I really really despise the Fallout TV show's lack of world exposition. I don't know how much longer I can take seeing people think that the NCR was just Shady Sands, and it's not remotely their fault because the TV show tells us absolutely NOTHING about the wider world.
Like no, the NCR is actually a massive nation state with millions of people. Almost all the settlements in California and the surrounding areas are part of the NCR. There's hundreds of thousands of soldiers back in New California guarding roads and cities and towns. They have a President, a senate, majors, city halls, jails, police, generals, courts, railroads, cars, their own currency, healthcare. But you won't know any of that from watching the TV show.
