I wish that part on Neverseen where Fitz had his hair dyed green stayed for longer. I know it was for a prank but I think he would be able to pull it off, plus I would've loved to see everyone's reaction or a Vacker wearing a scandalous hair color
yes! this! Seeing how easily the elves can dye their hair and change its colors and design and all that I'm absolutely furious (/hyp) with how no one takes advantage of it. I'm out here dedicating entire days to the process of bleaching and dying my hair and they can do it with a single elixir? and they just don't?
As someone who had green hair for over a year, I think Fitz should absolutely have green hair and that it should be more than a prank! Green is a actually a really fun color to have! And getting really vibrant colors is so much work in the human world--but seriously he'd look so good with green. I know he's associated with teal/turquoise a lot because of the eyes, but I think it could be a little overwhelming if his hair matched his eyes. However, green is also a cool color and is related to teal, so they could go excellent together.
I wonder what style he'd go for if he was given jurisdiction instead of it being a prank. Would he do a split dye? Would the other half be another color or natural, and if it was a color which one? Or would he do like the front sections of his hair instead (imagining Joel's--smallishbeans--minecraft skin hair rn).
This is slightly off-topic but just vibe with me for a moment: Fitz with slightly longer, curly hair. All the boys have short, straight hair, and I think Fitz should have some loose but defined curls. He'd be so pretty! Imagining his hair falling in his face and how poofy it could get and how fun it would be to mess with. I love him.
but back to your ask! the scandal of a Vacker having colored hair! we know that having colored hair isn't generally accepted, and for a Vacker of all people to break those stereotypes. And not just any Vacker but the golden boy himself. I'd bet that he's the most well known Vacker, so if he went out rocking that green hair the elven world would be absolutely shook to its core.
obviously there would be gossip and rumors, but I think above all people would be uncomfortable and unsettled. It's different. it's new. it's not natural and requires the manipulation of your body (via elixirs) to achieve that result, which is something elves don't really like. But it also illuminates a double standard as no one really comments on it when the results of the elixirs can be passed off as natural. (note: did Dex ever figure out how to make brown eye drops??). When Dex turned his eyes red he said it freaked people out, so maybe green hair would have a similar effect--multiplied by his status. perhaps they'd think of it as representative of corruption spreading in high places and how things are getting out of control. There'd also be the scorn of the Vacker family and trying to further alienate them as if it's possible (given their history, it's practically impossible to get rid of them and shun them from society completely).
this is all to say that I think Fitz should dye his hair. It doesn't have to be a bright green, but I think he should do it! It's so much fun to have colorful hair and stand out in a quiet way. Also convenient in crowds! My sister had a band concert the other week and she found my family in the bleachers because my hair stands out.
