Yeah, I get you're upset and not thinking clearly and Pen should have told you as soon as her brain started working again (tho I get why not with you going on about how much you hate Whistledown every other sentence), but she did not trap you in any way.

      Caleb visibly recoils, eyes dark with distrust as he glares. He doesn’t need to look back to know their pursuers are close. He can hear the thuds of boots on pavements, hear shouts bouncing off narrow side streets. For just a second, his contempt and wariness of the Amestrian military battles with his survival instinct. Survival wins out  ( it always does ),  and he gives her a curt nod. “This way,” he says, darting into a nearby alley. “’s a shortcut to the city center.” He doesn’t bother to look back. If she follows him, fine. If she doesn’t, better.
