It's insulting what they're doing. Everyone should feel insulted by the writing. It's so inconsistent and plain dumb. They've been showing us for several episodes now how poor women are suffering at the hands of evil men because of sexism, I guess. But the thing is, we get it. We're not stupid. You don't have to tell us all the time. Just show us what you mean. Let women make their choices, let women do wrong shit, let them be evil for once.
Only bad writers would make a so-called feminist show revolve around a man (Viserys) and have its female leads not make a single choice of their own. Let Rhaenyra fight for the throne because she wants it. Let Alicent plot against Rhaenyra because she wants to defend her family, because she believes her son is the rightful heir.
But no. Rhae wants the throne because daddy said so (also because of some dumb ass prophecy, but I don't even wanna start with that). And Alicent wants the throne for her son because she thinks that's what Viserys wanted. God forbid a woman actually wants power.
It's just insulting.
