Hi Belimah,
I'm the weirdo who asked if it was OK to send you a list of headcanon questions that I'd like your thoughts on...
I know most of your Sukuna versions are built around a story, which determines how he acts and thinks, but it would be great to hear about some basic character traits that you think are essential for him.
These are a lot of questions so maybe you find the time to answers some or make something about it. I would love a collection of headcannons from you.
I also hope this does not count as drabble that are listed in your kofi. If so please let me know and I send my request that way.
I feel like a bit of a stalker writing these down...
Here we are. The parasocial relationship is strong in this one...
-Is he a tea or coffee guy? (Very important.)
-Would he like a partner who cooks?
-Would he like someone who is into fashion? Someone who is creative with it and not into all that superficial brand logo stuff? More like someone who enjoys hunting for vintage items.
-Why does he like art so much? Which artists do you think he might like? Do you think he would like an artsy so?
-Does he like museum dates?
-Does he prefer mountains or the sea?
-What are his favourite bands? (Tell me he's a Nine Inch Nails and Tool …he has the vibes)
-I think he might be really uninterested in beauty or superficial norms that categorise someone as attractive What do you think about that?
-You mentioned in one of your blog answers that he is demisexual, didn't you?
-What's his take on female-coded aesthetics? Does he like pretty things?
-What is his view of feminine traits in general?
-Would he be into Magic: The Gathering? The rules and control just give me vibes.
-Gege wrote that he doesn't hate anything, but he seemed to hate being pitied. In one of your answers, I think you wrote that he is the most self-aware and unself-aware person, which is interesting. Do you have any further thoughts on this?
-In a lot of fan fiction, he is portrayed as insensitive. I think he's inherently rough and direct, but the last words he gave to Jogo, and the praise he gave him before he died — that was so kind and merciful. Some of the conversations he had with other characters in the manga give me the impression that he is sensible and has a kind of empathy.
-He's almost like a 'word of affirmation' kind of person when it comes to love languages. Maybe I'm delulu…
-What do you think he needs? He really needs to heal and become a healthier person for himself and others.
-Why do you think he likes flowers? I think he saw that in Megumi's mind when he possessed her body. Or do you think he told Yuji not to reveal his tastes?
-What key characteristics does he find attractive in a person? What draws him instantly to any kind of person?
-The smut question was inevitable: what are his main kinks?
You write him in a lot of BDSM contexts. Why do you think he would have such tastes?
Thank you for your time. I hope you enjoy this! : D.
Hi baby I took so long to reply, but I told you it would take me a while 🥹 hopefully you are alive and well and will see this!
Taking some part of this sunday to access my longest asks and leaving the shortest to be replied during the week, I think this... works.
And are you trying to get into the recently opened parasocial anon role? 🥴 we have- uh, cake? jk I find it very okay to reply to genuine asks about Sukuna and what I think, headcanon and etc about him. You can always tip me on my ko-fi, this was big as fuck but I'm not gonna charge for talking about something I absolutely LOVE talking about, Anon, don't worry. And my requests are closed for now, I'm finishing my last one in the line and then I'm going to give some love to my ongoing series that are not yet finished 😔
It's a bit hard to talk about the entirety of him without a background/setting in mind, as you mentioned, BUT I'll try to specify every reply and attach it to a setting that makes sense to me. You can definitely ask about the setting if something is not clear, all that shit you already know because I believe me you follow me for long enough to know how I get into enhanced autistic rambles when talking about this pixel I love.
Is he a tea or coffee guy? (Very important.)
Heian era did not have coffee! It was introduced in Japan in the Edo period. But I see Sukuna as a Tea drinker, he likes to try new flavors of tea Uraume finds out. He likes flowers, likes learning about things, and I think he spent a long time having to find out which plants were edible and which were not, so it adds to my thoughts about him enjoying some different types of tea. But in a modern scenario I have him as an espresso kind of guy (projecting much?) that will have his caffeine fix quick, strong and efficient before he goes on about his day. He would have tea, properly made, when he is at home or in a moment he can actually give the beverage his attention, nothing rushed, he would actually sit down and enjoy his tea with the way of tradition I think he carries.
Would he like a partner who cooks?
I think so, strongly. He's someone that loves to eat and he also loves efficiency. He absolutely feels pleasure in eating and it brings him energy, power, the... basic things good food bring us. He would definitely love someone cooking him some specific regional food, introducing him to other kinds of cultures and tastes. He's definitely pay attention on the way the person cooks, cuts, prepares, uses ingredients, and moves through the kitchen. He's methodical, he's borderline weird about cooking and food in general because I see these things as one of the few things he can have without much complication. He's used to meat. Raw, human meat if you will. He has Uraume cooking him human meat in different seasonings and ways so he can appreciate the meal without getting bored imo, a partner cooking things he has never tasted before? Bringing him novelty and exclusive flavors? He's beaming. And the person would be able to watch him while he eats to understand what makes him go for seconds, what flavors he favors and what are indifferent to him, what he eats for sustenance and what he eats for pleasure. Him eating your food and eating in front of you is like a predator allowing you to watch them feed, it shows trust, which is one of the few signals he would actually give you instead of saying he trusts you.
Would he like someone who is into fashion? Someone who is creative with it and not into all that superficial brand logo stuff? More like someone who enjoys hunting for vintage items.
I have Sukuna as someone that would be interested in whatever IF the thing catches his attention. How? Basically, the person likes fashion. Why? What makes their eyes shine and what makes them love it so much? Once the person tells him and shows him what is there in fashion to be so obsessed over, he's probably indulging in his own stupid way, because god forbid a man just accepts he likes someone and likes that this someone has an unique style and a method to see the world. He'd appreciate seeing someone finding bland pieces and turning them into something unique and really fucking cool, because it requires skill, requires patience and effort, requires practice to be good at it, and we know Sukuna likes this a lot. He also would be finding something to tease the person about; finding things to poke and have the person go on ramblings that are endless about why he's wrong and why fashion matters and etc etc because he enjoys hearing the person he likes talking about what makes them move, what makes them passionate. Doesn't matter what the thing is, though.
Why does he like art so much? Which artists do you think he might like? Do you think he would like an artsy so?
We know Sukuna is adamant about his body and self autonomy, the absolute control of himself and everything that has to do with him. I think he likes art because it's somehow a way to control feelings, to control experiences and concepts in your own way. To show the world your vision of those things. So you take your experiences in life, your views in subjects as religion, war, grief, death, etc. and shape them into something that shows the world your way of interpreting those. I don't know if I can explain properly, this is a talk I've had with my best friend about art in a Michelangelo exposition, not about Sukuna, just art and poetry in general. But it applies to Sukuna in my opinion, about all forms of art. To him, I think, fighting is an art form. That's the way he knows the world, the way he experiences it. The way he shows love as well. That's the only way he knows how to show what and how he feels as he has that one conversation with Kashimo. About artists I can say some of the Japanese artists I know: Tsukioka Yoshitoshi; Katsushika Hokusai OBVIOUSLY; Ryoshu Yamaguchi; Toshio Saeki; Suehiro Maruo; Takato Yamamoto ♥; Isamu Noguchi, Shintaro Kago and Junji Ito also if we dip in modern art. The whole Ero Guro movement, though, I think would be his cup of tea as well.
Does he like museum dates?
Not only museums while we're at it, but yes, he would absolutely love it. You are surrounded by old religious objects, armor, sculpture, history, ritual implements, weaponry, anatomical drawings depending on the museum, textiles; he would stand too long before a sculpture, a painting, a full armor in utter silence, then he'd offer one devastatingly perceptive observation. Because he is a fucking nerd. He would absolutely hate being hurried through a museum, and he would also enjoy disagreeing with the written interpretation beside some pieces, you know it, and you're the one hearing about it as well.
Does he prefer mountains or the sea?
I see how he would enjoy mountains. His shrines are on top of them, they give him altitude, strategic view, leverage. He's hard to reach up there and he's looking down on the rest of the fief. However, his innate domain always has the dark rocks, the sea, the shore. The bath scene with Megkuna is also very important, how water purifies and changes, how he's usually sitting on the shore watching the horizon, fucking edgy ominous man. I think he has no preference, he has reasons to enjoy both and they vary with his whims.
What are his favourite bands? (Tell me he's a Nine Inch Nails and Tool …he has the vibes)
Wouldn't it be funny if I just said Ariana Grande and moved on. But no that shit would be painful and terribly inaccurate ok let's be for fucking real here. I think he would enjoy classic music and instrumentals, like dark jazz, crucify me. He'd read and work listening to Bohren & Der Club Of Gore (shut up I'm not projecting you are), he'd enjoy Black chamber to drive to work, some Dale Cooper Quartet too. Here, have a playlist of shit he'd listen to read/write/decompress. But then I think his modern taste would go to gothic rock, to punk, and even to emocore if you bring him to some nice show. He'd enjoy NiN, Bauhaus, Merylin Manson, Die Antwood, Kendrick, Disturbed, I Prevail, Bobaflex, Powerwulf, Seether, HIM, Tame Impala, MEtallica, Black Sabbath, Matanza, Muse, BMTH, FoB because I'm forcing him to listen to it. But to be real I think he would enjoy any kind of music style given he's on the mood to listen to it. You can show him some dark trap, some samba, some pop dancy song, and if he's chilling he'll listen to it with you and offer some critique you didn't ask for but you'll appreciate because it means he did listen to it and absorbed enough to give you a feedback. Sometimes the feedback is 'damn that sucks not only in rhythm but in lyrics' and you gotta live with that, love. He'd mock you if he caught you crying over some Sleep Token songs too.
I think he might be really uninterested in beauty or superficial norms that categorize someone as attractive. What do you think about that?
I think you're correct. In modern settings those things, however, mean power and access. He could and would use them along with his skills, manipulation, persuasion and intelligence to reach the place he wants to be in, you know? He would not be interested in those aspects romantically or sexually, I mean. They would be tools for him to achieve something he wants to achieve if given the opportunity.
You mentioned in one of your blog answers that he is demisexual, didn't you?
I don't remember, I'm sorry, I do yap like a motherfucker. But I can see him being demisexual, pansexual, asexual. I can see him fitting into polyamory and monogamy. I can see him becoming hypersexual or completely sex repulsed. It depends on the setting. If we get into his Heian era shenanigans, I think he's really not interested at all in pursuing anything related to love and a traditional marriage or arrangement. He could, COULD, take someone to form an alliance with a bigger clan. But I do think he would do it just like that, arranged marriage, and if the person ignites something inside him, for the good or for the bad, he'd treat the person as some novelty he has displayed there for him to play with and entertain himself between his crusades and his little conquering trips. I know he has powerful senses, appetite and curiosity, that's his canon self, he can recognize that someone is sexually appealing without loving or trusting them, which clashes with the demisexual only interpretation yk? But I think he is extraordinarily selective about who sustains his interest. Beauty might make him look at someone, because it's natural for humans to be called towards something deemed beautiful. It cannot, however, make him care just because it's beautiful. So I would describe him as having interest-based or fascination-based desire when it comes to someone to share a life with, if we are diving into that. Real intimacy for him requires respect, curiosity, psychological friction (he's yapping and bantering and fighting while he's at it) and the feeling that the person cannot be immediately exhausted or reduced to a familiar category. He also may go long periods without pursuing anyone because most people do not engage enough of him, and this is me thinking about the clan-alliances if he's not in the mood to take control by cheer violence and destruction, which may be a rare mood for him not to be. But like, when/if he gets attached to the person, sexual desire and emotional recognition would become very difficult for him to separate. He's gonna be fucking the person into understanding he loves them, even though he himself can't put in words yet.
What's his take on female-coded aesthetics? Does he like pretty things?
In Heian Era or in general? Not that it makes any difference, but feminine things back then and nowadays may differ a bit. Anyway, he likes pretty things. He likes flowers, silk, perfume, tea pots, elaborate hairstyles on people, lacquerware, jewellery, fine ceramics, a finely made kiseru, painted screens, delicate food, translucent fabric that is not easy to find, ornate weapons, although he prefer the functional ones, female kimonos that are well embroidered and nicely patterned and hand-painted. He likes them and would easily use and own them, he'd also appreciate all of them because one of these threaten his ways and views of himself. He has no need to reject feminine-coded beauty to prove masculinity, and he does not care about proving masculinity. In fact, I think he would find modern anxiety and all the turmoil around gendered objects tedious, useless, absolutely idiotic. He comes from a period whose elite masculine aesthetics could be richly layered, perfumed, poetic and ornamental, hence my first question. He might wear jewellery because he likes the weight and gleam of it, but well, they are huge disadvantage in battle because a bitch can rip your earrings off or your piercings too. He might prefer an object with a fine painted surface while remaining fully capable of using it for something appalling. The man will reach for the most delicate looking thing and use it to behead a kid and eat their meat in front of you. I think he does not care at all about gender or presentation, he's achieved the perfect sorcerer body, he gives absolutely no fucks about how he looks. He just happens to look fine as fuck. 🫦
What is his view of feminine traits in general?
He definitely thinks nothing of it, because why would he? It doesn't mean anything to his world views of power hierarchy. It's a fact that women were seen as lesser beings for a whole long period of time, yay patriarchy, but to Sukuna, if a female sorcerer kicks his ass and ends up killing him, he'd not be sulking and seething because he lost to a woman or a twink, a femboy, a feminine man. He'd be... like he was in the JJK ending, honestly. Accepting he lost, after all, and it does not matter really why or how if he did give everything he had in the battle. So he does not despise nor respects someone based on whether they are feminine or not.
Would he be into Magic: The Gathering? The rules and control just give me vibes.
Anon why the fuck would you bring MTG into this conversation. I know, I know why, you said right in the question. I KNOW. I played this for so fucking long. So much money in little paper cards. Dice. Tablemats. Bullshit. My beloved Ur Dragon and Nichol Bolas decks. I was viciously toxic with my commander decks and yes, he would. He would play this fucking awful game. Unfortunately for EVERYONE around him. He would play and he would have HORRID control decks. Anon. Grixis control, Dimir control, or a highly, TERRIBLE technical combo-control deck. Anon, he would be a Rakdos player for the chaos if someone forbid him of using his control decks, or he would deny and make a deck on the spot, a fucking monoblue deck. Is that what you want me to say? You want me to tell you that I believe with my whole fucking heart that this motherfucker would be a very, VERY insufferable control player that would suck the joy and life out of any and everyone else. He would be a fucking CHAMPION, anon. This bitch of a man would have a black lotus ON HIS DECK despite being banned. And another on his wall because he would be EXCELLENT enough to take it not as a hobby but as a fucking job I'm gonna kms I didn't think someone would bring MTG into my house in 2026 oh my god. Anyway thank you for the question it was very terrible to remember that every one of my decks and mats and shit are here somewhere closed and kept out of my reach so I don't fall into the temptation of buying the magic lairs and the fucking exclusive shit because it's in dollar and we ain't got no time or money for that. People, do not play MTG. Being addicted to crack is cheaper. I'm not even kidding, that shit sucks money like I'd suck Sukuna's dicks.
Gege wrote that he doesn't hate anything, but he seemed to hate being pitied. In one of your answers, I think you wrote that he is the most self-aware and unself-aware person, which is interesting. Do you have any further thoughts on this?
What does George Akutami know about anything? (Nicknames are for friends and Gege is no friend of mine) I think he is a walking contradiction. He's very, very self aware and at the same time he doesn't like accessing his feelings. They are not important to him, because they don't bring him what matters. Power and knowledge. So yeah, this man will kill you dead if you tell him "damn shawty you're pitiful" because how dare you pity him, the strongest sorcerer in history? The sorcerer with the perfect body, the perfected techniques, the one able to surpass all sorcerers? What is there to pity? Why are you pitying him? You're creating a narrative about him that is not true. You are projecting something into him that he did not authorize or consent and it infuriates him a lot. He endures and even welcomes hatred because hatred recognizes his power. Fear recognizes his power, his danger, and what he's capable of doing. Even disgust acknowledges that he affects the person feeling it somehow, he dealed with it a lot due to the way he was born. Pity turns him into an unfortunate object. A victim of something. As if someone tells him to his face that oh, something happened to you and you fell victim of this unfortunate thing, poor thing you are, Sukuna. You are so pitiful and I understand your pain better than you understand what you have become. After defeat in the end of the manga, he acknowledges that another path may have existed and chooses the possibility of living differently in another life. That's not redemption, but it is the first meaningful loosening of his insistence that his chosen nature was the only possible one. But I digress to the pitying, see, he's squishing you like a fucking bug because it's nonsensical that someone as weak and pathetic as anyone else would say they pity him just because they allow themselves idiotic feelings like love and whatnot while Sukuna thrives (as if) in being alone and longing for love in secrecy, even if he's not aware of it fully. A hug as a kid would fix him. Let me at him. Let me raise this kid with so much love. I'll give him a fucking labubu if he wants let me spoil him.
In a lot of fan fiction, he is portrayed as insensitive. I think he's inherently rough and direct, but the last words he gave to Jogo, and the praise he gave him before he died — that was so kind and merciful. Some of the conversations he had with other characters in the manga give me the impression that he is sensible and has a kind of empathy.
God forbid a man be autistic. He is insensitive in the literal sense that he frequently does not care whether his behavior hurts someone. But he is not insensate, though He's knows what he causes when he tells someone something. He developed a very strong cognitive empathy, I think that happened as a survival tool, really. He reads fear, hatred, longing, pride, insecurity and devotion extremely well. He knows where people are emotionally vulnerable, he choses to abuse it if it fits his wishes. He can use that understanding cruelly, but the capacity itself is real. He's a control freak, he knows exactly what you're going to feel when he says X and Z - or that's what he likes to believe. You see, he's not the most versed motherfucker when it comes to human interactions or feelings, so he may think "I'll say this and then this person will react like that, because that's the logical reaction from what I gathered." and then he says the thing and the person does NOT react as he expected, and you will have a frustrated, confused and angry Sukuna that does not really enjoy being wrong, even though he put himself in that situation to begin with. His affective empathy is selective, and I say this because you mentioned Jogo. Someone’s pain does not automatically produce corresponding pain in him, I hope it makes sense to you? He can recognize the dignity of an experience and respond appropriately when he considers the person worthy. See, he telling Gojo he cleared his skies and he's gonna cherish and remember his memory for as long as he lives. This mf can be exquisitely sensitive when he chooses to, which is once in a blood fucking moon. That does not make him secretly benevolent please. It means cruelty is not his only possible response, and therefore remains, much of the time, a choice. He's... god, he's a crude idiot, the smartest and most intelligent man you know, and he's a fucking idiot. I hope you know what I mean.
He's almost like a 'word of affirmation' kind of person when it comes to love languages. Maybe I'm delulu…
Probably you're going to a right path because I see him as the type that relaxes and looses some tension if you say with every single letter how you love him, how you are choosing him, how you will remain by his side. He is someone that does not like little mind games (when he's not the one making them, idiotic fucking chud), he likes to know exactly where he stands in your life and in your space. He wants to know what he can expect and what he can't expect from you. He will offer you the same if you are someone he loves, someone he decided is worthy to stand besides him and not beneath him. He's telling you what you are to him, but he's mostly showing you with acts. He's a fucking poet and can appreciate and create art like no one else, but he sucks so bad when it comes to use these amazing words to let his love one know they are loved. See? Idiot self aware that is unaware. He's touching, getting things for you, taking you to places, taking things and gifting you, paying attention!!! to what you do, say, how you feel, how you express things. He's navigating you and your surroundings with the rapt attention of a predator. But you gotta tell him with every single detail how yes, you will keep choosing him forever and always. Big boy and his trust issues.
What do you think he needs? He really needs to heal and become a healthier person for himself and others.
He needs to let me leglock him. He needs to let me hold his face tenderly and look into the four of his eyes and say "get your shit together, let's go to therapy, stop behaving like an idiotic man trying to power your way into this world. It's 2026 stop with the calamity. You are learning how to turn that violence into words. Two mouths and so little use of them to tell what you feel." No but honestly he needs to see he didn't deserve any of the things that happened to him as a kid and growing up. I think he does, deep down. I think he does understand that no, nothing was fair. No, no kid deserves what he went through. No, people... did not need to treat him like that. And that he did not need to become the strongest in history to be seen as someone worthy and powerful and a fucking godlike creature. He could have been happy in the other path he had laid in front of him, but this much he knows once he's defeated and talking to Mahito after his death. This question was too open so I'm being more generalist in my answer. He needs to let me sit on his stomach maw naked and show him a good time that's what this bitch needs. Lovingly.
Why do you think he likes flowers? I think he saw that in Megumi's mind when he possessed her body. Or do you think he told Yuji not to reveal his tastes?
I said it on one of the answers above, he's likely someone that had to know flowers, plants, fungus, everything available to survive until he got strong enough to hunt for animals, and then for humans. He needs to know which things are edible, which are poisonous, which are medicinal. And it intrigues him. He likes knowing things, likes being aware of his possibilities. I think he also likes the beauty of the flowers and the way they can be used to dye things, to make tea, to adorn some objects. He likes the symbolism, the smell of a few, the use they have to him. Also, he's a fucking liar, that much you have to know. He lies all the time. And it's funny as fuck. I think he tells Yuuji it's from Megumi's memories and then proceeds to tell Yuuji that no, he does not know shit about Yuuji's hometown because he didn't bother to look at that. He's lying through his teeth, he simply doesn't want to tell Yuuji he already liked and knew flowers because de doesn't like to be unexpectedly perceived. Like how dare you notice this little human thing about me fuck you bitch. Because it does not weaken him to let Yuuji know this little detail, if you think about it. He simply does NOT like that Yuuji noticed. They are so funny to me bro, they are fighting all the time, old ass bickering couple.
What key characteristics does he find attractive in a person? What draws him instantly to any kind of person?
As Marina and her lil diamonds would say, power and control. And self-possession in some degree. He would like someone that knows their shit and owns them. Someone that is capable, competent, knows how to discern what's wise, what's suicide, what's unworthy. Someone that will not easily bow down to him, just... acknowledge him and spark some kind of defiance. Because he's gonna want to explore that and the reason why this person did not act as every other person he faced. Someone that is as curious as him, that seeks knowledge unapologetically, that really wants to know, to test, to fight and to conquer along with him. And that can keep up with his bullshit.
The smut question was inevitable: what are his main kinks?
He loves fucking in missionary and mating press so he can keep looking you in the eyes as you both argue and fight. Next. No but really I think he loves overpowering his partners, he likes hunting them, knowing they are thrilled to be escaping an impending doom coming to get them. He likes exerting his power over others, so four hands are great to pin someone down, bend, twist, rearrange and put in the exact way he wants to enjoy them. He likes to control - duh - when the other cums, king of edging, he wants them begging and pleading, wants them to be messy and give him how many orgasms he thinks are enough. He loves to see someone unraveling and coming apart from his ministrations, easily. Loves to see how someone will become a drooling pool of babbles with so little effort of his fingers, tongues, even his thigh. He enjoys seeing someone fuck themselves over to please him. Someone gagging and still swallowing his cock. Someone choking and losing air but keeping the rhythm until he cums. He likes exertion and fucking people until they really can't take it anymore, and sometimes they will take it some more because he's feeling devious. He gets powerdrunk easily, and on the other hand... I think he's a very big pillow princess. Yeah it clashes with the other kinks but he contains multitudes. So do we. He loves to lounge and watch as his partners fuck themselves on his cocks and stomach maw. Loves to just place his hands on their waist, hips, thighs, breasts and let them do allll the work. Lazy fuck that he is sometimes. He's definitely very okay with being used if he's tired after a fuckass battle, like, yeah, you can ride him like a damn horse just don't tell him to go and bend you like a pretzel tonight, let him grab some rest.
You write him in a lot of BDSM contexts. Why do you think he would have such tastes?
Hey I only have one BDSM story and it's Southbound, whatchu mean? I know he's kinky as fuck though so I'm always ready to put him into a sex dungeon. And BDSM has pillars that are very, very aligned to his control needs. Safe, Sane and Consensual are those pillars. Talking about modern Sukuna, basically, Southbound is how I see him indulging. He's a dungeon master, he controls EVERYTHING there. He also owns the place, so there's that. His work is to dominate subs, willing subs, service subs. He loves to be worshipped in that scenario, loves to know people are there making a damn line for the opportunity to service him, to be broken by him, to be told by him that they were so good for him and they deserve to cum because of it. He's not a brat tamer there, BUT WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT, THE READER IS A BRAT- anyway I recommend you to read Southbound if you wanna see how I have this man as a Master and Owner in my head. He can be a bitchbreaker if I get another context for his modern self, sure, but that one is Toji for now.
