“Come on, could you do something for once?! For Mila,s sake, why does our boss even keep you around!”
One eyes closed, the other squinted, Python took a glance at the raging Forsyth. Still in his apron, he seemed to have got distracted by… you guessed it, the taster taking a well-deserved break. There was literally nothing else to examine at the moment, so why would it be shameful to lie down for a hot second? He didn’t know, and yet the cook was always disappointed with him.
“Why were you even hired in the first place?! Can’t we deal with it ourselves? I’m sure a few of us could use a bonus to our sala-”
“Enough,” Python didn’t let him finish. “Let’s assume you can do that. Please, go take that bar you have just finished and describe the drawbacks of its texture to me,” said he with an overly formal expression.
Forsyth was startled by this reaction, but didn’t back down. He went forward, took it, broke a square off and ate it. And as he chewed on it, he slowly went paler and paler, which made Python smirk.
Once Forsyth was done, he asked:
“Would you please proceed with the description?”“Well, it was… soft and tasty and…”“I asked about the drawbacks, not the advantages and general description. Please do not stall for time.”“Well…” Forsyth stood there with his mouth open, lost for words.“Got nothing to say? Then do not insult me and my profession. I’ve been doing it well, or at least, to everyone but you,” with that, he turned around and walked off to cool down, leaving the cook to stand in place.
