We really need to talk about the fact that Belly spent the episode basically looking for her ring. Literally she wanted her bag back just for that ring ! But I'm supposed to accept that she doesn't really love Jere ?! Or that it makes sense that she ends up with Conrad ?! Why do we get this kind of thing on Jellyfish instead of Bonrad development (especially in the first of the last 3 episodes of this show) ?! I don't get Jenny Han !
I know!!! They made the ring tiny and cheap, and everyone was mocking it — but for Belly it’s literally the most precious thing she owns. She didn’t give a fuck about anything else, she was running around like a tigress trying to get it back, and the whole thing was spotlighted so hard. First, she literally said out loud how valuable that ring was to her. Second, she pulled it straight out of her backpack the moment she got it back. Third, she immediately put it back on her finger!!! Meaning she misses HIM SO MUCH that she needed to feel HIM on her finger at least.
Why they’re doing this two episodes before the finale, I have no idea. I guess they want to show that her bond with Jere is too strong, and she needs something to hold onto — the dress, the ring, all of it. Meanwhile, he couldn’t sleep and was staring at their photos 😭
But I don’t even have 1% hope for Jelly, because I can already see what the narrative is pushing. Even their longing for each other is being framed as something unhealthy, something painful, like they “lost themselves
Which is hilarious — because okay, fine, Jelly’s bond is forever, they literally can’t function without each other (and of course the show insists that’s sooo unhealthy 🙄). But what the hell does that have to do with Bonrad? 😀😂 Jelly will always be the legendary love story.
