well @zenstrike SINCE YOU ASKED...
okay so in undergrad I took a few phys ed classes because I could and since we were a coastal city we could take sailing, which was awesome because I grew up on the water and used to sail with my mom so I was excited. it was awesome and I had a blast all semester, it helped that one of my friends was also taking the class so we usually got a boat together with like one other person.
anyway on the last day of class we had a race around the harbor. that special day it was just me and my friend on the boat and, well, we were both a little competitive and a LOT reckless. so towards the end of the race we were a little behind, and we see the marina. everyone else is avoiding the marina because it’s dangerous and there are boats coming and going, but I pointed out that if we cut through it it would be a more direct line to the finish. so catch me and my idiot friend, 19 years old, on a boat that really is intended for at least three, blasting our way through the marina which is full of old rich people, me on the bow majestically captain fucking morgan-ing like a pirate queen of old, as everyone else in the class sees us doing the stupidest, most dangerous stunt we could have.
there was no explicit rule saying we couldn’t go through the marina, because they thought no one would be stupid enough to do that. we got quite a lecture after that, and now there is an explicit rule.
