Petey got a duck... she thinks that's just ducky!! This toy won't last a minute... she loves to deviscerate the ducks and remove the quacker. Apparently, she doesn't think it's all that it's quacked up to be đ¤đđ sorry, I couldn't resist... I'm such a cornball...
Look at those gnashing teeth!! She's a vicious beast, indeed!! The stuffed ducks must beware of this savage beast!! Stuffies are flying everywhere!!
Petey does not mess around when it comes to deviscerating ducks... it's a primal kinda thing for her so.... đŚđđđ¤ŁđĽłđđâ¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¨ď¸
âCommander Gojo, your orders?â
Shiki stares out the cracked glass window. Dark storm clouds churn overhead, so dark that it might as well be black, and oppressive. Suffocating. Shiki feels like sheâs suffocating. Thereâs a tightness in her chest that makes it difficult for her to breathe.
Nonetheless, her mouth opens. Her lips move. There is no trace of discomfort in the voice that comes out.
âEvacuate Tokyo,â she hears herself saying. For some reason, she almost does not recognize the sound of her own voice. â⌠Sound the alarms, and evacuate. Weâre abandoning this stronghold.â
âYes, Commander Gojo.â There is a quiet exhale behind her. Frustration and reluctance, but also relief. âI will immediately alert the others. When will we depart?â
âNow.â Shikiâs gaze does not stray from the distance. Even though she has yet to visually confirm the form of Sâ ⌠to visually confirm the form of the curse that is gradually, inevitably approaching them, this does not mean that she does not feel it. The oppressive weight that crushes down upon her shoulders, the feeling of slow dread that festers inside her stomach, making her vaguely nauseous.
But even soâ
âGather the survivors, and depart as soon as possible,â Shiki says without turning around. â⌠I will remain here.â
âWhat?! You cannot possiblyââ A garbled sound strangles their words. Then a deep intake of breath, the sound of someone forcing themselves to calm down. âCommander. Thatâs âthatâs the curse born from Gojo Satoru, the Strongest Sorcerer in the World. The strongest curse this world has ever seen, since being plunged into this apocalyptic hell. You canât possibly face something like that on your own!â
âI can.â She canât. She canât, and itâs not even about whether or not Shiki is strong enough. She canât do this, except she can, because there is no other recourse.
Youâre the only one I trust with something like this, Shiki.
⌠Confronting the curse that Satoru-niichan has become is something that she must do. Because Satoru-niichan cursed her long before he ever became a curse himself.
âYou canât do this, Commander Gojo.â âCommander Gojoâ should be the title addressing Satoru-niichan. It should be Satoru-niichan, not Shiki whoâs here. But her cousin isnât here anymore. âGojo-sama, youâre the only Supreme Special Grade sorcerer left in the entire world now! Humanity needs you. I understand that you wish to confront the White Beast to lay your cousinâs soul to rest, but I implore you to considerââ
âIf I do not do this,â Shiki interrupts, âThen do you think that evacuating will really solve anything, Tsuchimikado Kagari? Even if you leave the country, itâs only a matter of time before this curse reaches out to ruin the rest of the world.â
âThatâŚâ
âHeâs already subsumed the Shattered Star in Kyoto that was born from Tsukumo Yuki. The more we delay this confrontation, then the stronger the curse will become.â And there are even more curses gathering in that direction âas if guided there by an invisible will, by the new natural order of this accursed world.
Briefly, Shiki closes her eyes. âI will remain here.â
âCommander⌠youâŚâ
âI will remain,â she repeats.
Truly love her so much.
âYouâre gonna have to let me grow up.â
Okay. Oookay.
God, Sam. As an older sibling IâŚfuck, talk about a knife to the heart.
Something thatâs really important to me about Imogen and Laudnaâs dynamic, whether you ship them or not, is that theyâre both women who understand what itâs like to be stripped of choice, and to have people always thinking the worst of them. Both ostracised in their homes (as well as out of in Laudnaâs case), both having other people make decisions about their lives. Different circumstances for each, but at its bare essentials thatâs what it is.
And thatâs why I think itâs so important the way they give each other choices, and support their ability to make them. Not only that, but they have faith in each other and their choices. Imogen wanted Laudna back so, so desperately when she died, but she heard FCG trying to force Laudna and knew that it was wrong, even if it was the outcome she desired. She had faith that Laudna would come back to her, but she still gave her the choice.
And I think weâre seeing the reverse of that now with their last chat in ep49. Imogen has been very badly rocked by the revelation that her mother is there willingly, because she wants so badly for her mum to be good, to have been forced against her will, and it was a real gut punch to find out thatâs not the case. She needs a moment to reconcile that, and her knee jerk response is to try and keep that image of a good mother, because itâs her mother and she still loves her, even if Liliana is one of the people who took choices from her.
And yes, Laudna could have told her that obviously sheâs wrong and obviously she should side against her mum, but thatâs not the kind of relationship they have.
Laudna has faith in Imogen, she doesnât believe the worst of her. And she will always, always, give her a choice.
