“I’ll never be stupid enough to jump into that water.” (are we surprised, no we are not)

She knows well what he’s doing. He’s goading her into another little argument to pass the time where they speak on her nature in comparison to other merfolk. Ariel refuses to let it come to fruition, not when she’s in such high spirits.
“I’m the only mermaid here, you’ll be safe,” a coy smile pulls across her lips as she moves through the waves, stretching her body to rid herself from the cramps that quite often took hold when she had been without her tail and cramped on Barbossa’s ship. “I’ll protect you from any sharks.”
A girlish giggle slips from the mermaid as she lets the warm waters refresh her spirits. Laying back, the waves move her this way and that. Red hair flares in the water, spreading out to create a moving halo about her head. While she may wish upon every star in the night sky, it could never be denied that Ariel was a creature of the sea; no matter if she left the sea for the sand, the sea would always be apart of her. Without thought, the length of her body is on full display as she stretches and floats upon the surface. Scales sparkle as the sun shines down on her, every toned muscle is easily seen, the curves where tail ended and human form began remains a powerful reminder to any man bearing witness just how alluring a mermaid could be. Yet Ariel remains ignorant of how dangerously alluring she has the potential to be the men aboard -- not that she isn’t aware, mermaids were given a divine beauty by Poseidon as she had been told, she simply does nothing to purposely use her looks to lure men to their watery graves.
And she’d be surprised if Barbossa even looked at her in any way other than with caution. She’s certain he sees her less as a woman and more as some creature that can revert to a darker nature.
“If you can’t swim, I could teach you. Who better to teach a sailor to swim than a mermaid?”
