I know this is ridiculous but--
When I decided I was going to start writing because, damn it, life is short and I want to write fic, I logged into AO3 and realized I had old comments without replies. I’m a completionist, I want to reply to comments, but I have to sit down and make myself reply to everything at once. I struggled a bit because 2013-14 to 2021 is a long time...
...and I got stuck. Plus healthy doses of anxiety and imposter’s syndrome, typical writerly stuff. I’ve written more fic since but I can’t reply to new comments until I sit down and reply to all of the comments because each one is just as important to me, even the ones from 2013 (I’m not sure why I never replied to those, either--did I have email notifs turned off? maybe? idk, I had my third kid in 2012, had my first seizure sometime between then and my MS diagnosis in 2014, so maybe it was Real Life distractions?).
If you have left me a comment, I appreciate it and you, thank you so much for taking the time to read my fic and leave love. It means the world to me. I promise I’m not ignoring comments or questions, I feel immense guilt over not making the time to reply rightthissecond but my brain refuses to cooperate until the timing is perfect. Eventually I’ll answer them, but even at 38 I freeze up sometimes and get in my own head and -gestures vaguely at everything- you know. I go on vacation in November, I’m going to knock them all out while I’m sitting on the beach if I haven’t replied by then (yep, my family does November beach vacations to the NC coast and I love them).
