I kinda hate those "trans pipeline" jokes. Like, of fucking course be yourself, experiment, make changes where you see fit, etc. But like, making jokes about it being such a universal experience is. Not great. Because it erases nonbinary people, and it poses being nonbinary as being "safer" or "easier" or whatever. Which is Not Fucking True. Like At All. I can tell you from the point of view of someone who is solidly nonbinary/transneutral and intersex. IT IS NOT EASIER TO BE OUTSIDE OF THE BINARY. you will not get more respect or be safer being nonbinary than being binary trans. However, many people, including people who were assigned male at birth, are nonbinary/transneutral, and will never have she/her pronouns. WHICH IS GOOD. it is a GOOD THING for everyone outside the binary to be who they are, outside the binary. It is GOOD for diversity to be free to exist. Using they/them, it/its, and/or neopronouns, exclusively, is not always part of a path from one binary to the other. Excorsexism and nonbinary erasure isn't cute or funny, even if the person saying it is trans. And implying that they/them is always a stop on a path from a to b is the same as calling nbs "woman lite". It's the exact same thing. And it's frustrating and obnoxious and infuriating to be treated that way, especially by people who should know better.
