My Thoughts on the Situation

The fact that people harassed Gooseworx to the point she had to delete her Reddit account is horrible. Some of you need to learn to mature and realize that just because the show isn’t focusing on the characters you want it to, it doesn’t mean that it’s “bad writing” or something, and it definitely doesn’t excuse harassment. The show is written beautifully, and it isn’t Goose’s job to please you. She is sharing her work, creativity, and world with us. We are focusing on Jax and Pomni. This does not mean that the other characters have been “sidelined” in favor of these characters. The other characters are just as important as they always have been, and are still written well. The show isn’t focusing on Jax and Pomni for “marketing purposes”. It’s focusing on them because that’s who Goose wants it to focus on. Jax is a very in depth character, and has the most maladaptive coping mechanism out of all of the cast. So of course he’s being focused on.

We have gotten a pretty good amount of content around the other characters. They aren’t one dimensional, and are beautifully fleshed out and written. As well as this, Ragatha’s arc has kind of closed, as well and Gangle and Zooble’s. We’re likely going to learn more about kinger, and Jax and Pomni are going to be the main focus.

It’s okay to be sad that your favorite character isn’t going to be getting as much focus, but coping with that sadness by acting like it’s bad writing and harassing the creator over it, to the point she had to delete her Reddit account, is just awful.

Be grateful that this show was created at all, that you got to meet these characters, that you got to draw them, write fanfics of them, ship them, and relate to them.

In conclusion, just because the show is going in a direction that you personally do not like, does not mean it is bad writing, and definitely does not give ground for harassment. Ever.

I’d like to apologize to Goose, though I doubt she’ll see this, and is likely taking a justified break from social media right now. Gooseworx, on behalf of all the decent people in this fandom that became inspired and moved by your work, I am so, so, genuinely sorry. I hope you’ll get to heal from this awful experience, and I hope this doesn’t force you to distance yourself from your own beautiful works. Thank you.

edit: according to Gooseworx, Reddit was not the root of the issue, and she was not harassed in that Reddit thread. I’m keeping the post up because the general message is important.

Random DCxDP Prompt/Thought #2

Jason Finds a Notebook in Danny's drawer, Big Capital letters on its cover written as 'Labels', He raises an eyebrow as he inspects and opens the notebook. "What's this about??" He asked, Turning his head to Danny before reading the text. "Oh that's my nicknames for people cuz I tend to forget names a lot." Danny shrugged nonchalantly as Jason flipped through the pages.

He stared dead silent for a moment at his name and it's 'labels', blinking in disbelief. "WHY DO YOU HAVE ME AS 'ANGER ISSUES', 'FUNNIER THAN JOKER', AND 'HE WHO PROBABLY HAS A FURSONA'?!" Jason read the other labels in disbelief.

His gaze landing on Bruce's 'labels', barking out a laugh as he read the first one out loud. " YOU HAVE B AS 'AUTISM SPECTRUM'?!" He yelled out with a wide amused grin, Danny laughing softly, "I mean... Just look at him..." Danny shrugged making Jason laugh out even more.

perhaps my favourite trope in sports rpf is when we have a younger athlete navigating hiding their queerness and a budding romance with a teammate or rival come head to head with an older, potentially even retired, athlete in a kind of mentorship position who finds out or suspects something about the younger one's queerness/relationship and confronts them about it and the younger one is getting worked up and maybe says something like "you have no idea what it's like for me" or accuses the older one of homophobia and the older one smiles tiredly and reveals his own queer romance with his biggest rival/teammate from his time and the younger one is so shocked and like "well there were these rumours but i never thought" but then finally feels connected to his idol and community and less isolated in his sport and finds that there is hope, afterall.
