Hi Kit, apologies if you've gotten this ask before, but I've just gotten addicted to the cheating au after yesterday's holiday fic, and I was wondering... when did Anakin and Obi-Wan meet in that 'verse? How did the affair start? Was it right away, did it take some time? (I mean I assumed they met through Padme since Obi-Wan is her mentor but like, what happened when they met?) What's the cheating au's origin story?

Ahh no these are all good questions and I’m really glad you like the au!!

So the cheating au began with one post that I’ll link when I get it (it should be the first post in the tag but that’s always hit and miss) (should also be in the “Kit’s silly lil AUs” tag but that’s ALSO hit and miss sometimes)

But the post was basically: obi-wan and Satine throw a very elaborate and fancy fundraising ball that Padmé drags Anakin to. Anakin is very out of place and goes to skulk in the corner. When a man comes to stand next to him, Anakin opens his big mouth and is like “haha look at this place it’s so needlessly fancy and huge and over the top, the senator must be overcompensating huh” and obi-wan is like “I can assure you I’m not” and anakin is like 😳😳😳

…and after a night of casual flirting from obi-wan and flustered rebuttals Anakin who isn’t as uninterested as he wants to be, obi-wan shows up at anakin’s space art gallery a few days later, gets a private tour, and sucks anakin’s dick in an unused room

Which sort of jumpstarts the affair if not the love, but it’s sort of implied that Anakin was dissatisfied with some aspects of his relationship with Padmé (how public it was, how much of his time he has to spend going to her things and caring about her career)

And obi-wan offers him that sort of connection he’s been missing with Padmé—he’s overly interested in his job, learning about the art and what it means to anakin, asking so many great questions, and most importantly—anakin knows it’s real. It feels real. And the public doesn’t know anything about it. It’s secret and it feels like theirs.

Brienne’s character arc is not about becoming a knight and if u don’t understand that, then u don’t understand her character. she didn’t grow up fantasizing about being a knight one day, she just wanted to have a normal body and face. she wanted to be swept off her feet like the maidens in all the songs are. (aka Sansa with a sword???) Brienne’s character arc is about loving, valuing, and appreciating her as she is, both from herself and other people. it’s about learning that the world isn’t black and white. she can be a lady and a warrior, Jaime can be honorable and an oathbreaker. while Brienne may end up knighted, it will be because someone (Jaime??) loves, values, and appreciates her as a feminine person and as a fearsome warrior. it comes up a lot that Brienne feels like a failure for not being the typical lady or typical warrior (mainly in Brienne VI), so clearly Brienne needs to learn that she’s perfect just the way she is, which doesn’t hinge on her becoming a knight.
