bryce furrowed his eyebrows. “i don’t like people just touching it.” he held his tail close to his chest. “i… momma told me not to let people have fun with my tail or ears.”

“we need to talk about when you’re an inspiration or a distraction,” dastan answered with a short laugh. he’s not one to complain, otherwise he wouldn’t have been buying her all the lingerie she could wear. plus it’s one of the best outfits he likes seeing her in–naked, but not quite. he picked up one of the ornaments for the tree and hung it randomly as he nodded at rory. “would they want me there? i mean, it’s a family thing.” if he was being honest, he’d have wanted her to go for a more pleasant ‘you could come with me,’ rather than ‘you don’t have to come’, as if she was already assuming he wouldn’t want to, and was giving him an exit before an entrance. another ornament went up the tree, albeit a little lopsidedly, as dastan fell silent for a few moments. he had his own family too, but he wanted to spend time with rory as well. “when will you be back?”

rory smiled as she turned on her heel with a laugh. he bought them for her and she refused to let that go to waste. “i think i’m both tonight. plus it’s christmas time, everyone loves some inspiration and some distraction.” she pursed her lips slightly as she grabbed an ornament herself and put it on the tree. she did want dastan there. she wanted to show him off and for her parents to see how happy she was with him. but at the same time, it was terrifying. “yeah and i know they want to meet you,” rory explained slowly. she didn’t want to push him into anything. “well if you came with me, there won’t be a time when we’re apart. but if you don’t, i’ll be back on the 28th. in time for new years with just the two of us, maybe?”
