Me, whenever Astarion brings his "execute the thief to deter evildoers" line during Ansur Trials: Babygirl, I love you, but you are literally a thief yourself. Are you sure about that? Are you REALLY sure that's the hill you wanna die on?

Something I've spent a lot of time thinking about: Elves have a different concept of when adulthood begins that isn't based on emotional or physical maturity but on their relationship to memory and trance. During their first century, memories of their past lives are slowly phased out during trance until they can only recall memories of their current life, and once they can't recall their past lives in trance anymore, they're considered adults. There is also a limited number of elven souls to go around; new elven souls don't really come into existence anymore, but already existing elven souls CAN become cut off from the cycle of reincarnation. Basically what I just can't help but wonder is how this interacts with Astarion and undeath/vampirism.
Astarion was 39 when he became a vampire spawn, aka, by the time of his death/transformation, he still had access to his past life memories in trance. So, I wonder, what happened to his trance memories once he was turned? Did he still experience the slow phasing-out of past live memories that a living elf would before the end of their first century, or did becoming undead interfere with that somehow? As in, when he became a vampire spawn, did he suddenly lose the connection to his past live memories?
The reason why I wonder is because, afaik, DROW do not experience their past lives. They're obviously elves, but they were actually cursed a long, long time ago. And their souls don't usually go to Arvandor to await reincarnation (they end up in the Demonweb Pits, usually; Eilistraeen drow are a different matter). BASICALLY what I'm getting at here is that curses seem to be able to interfere with how trance is experienced and with access to memories of your past lives and the primal elven soul. Vampirism is a curse (just one that does effect individuals instead of a whole population). Just something I keep wondering about because I'm a nerd.
Look I'm happy y'all are so excited for Veilguard but my heart is still too wrapped up in BG3 and I'm not ready to move on yet, okay? I don't wanna leave these characters behind. I mean I'll always love them but I'm not ready to lock them in a little box in my heart yet while I pay attention to other characters and another fictional universe. I can't do it. BG3 is special to me, I've been following it's development through the entirety of its early access period, I can still remember things from then. I remember when there were only half the classes, when the dream guardian was still your sexy dream lover, when Astarion had a whopping and funny 9 Int, I remember angry!Wyll wanting to wipe out the goblin camp, when Karlach still had a placeholder model and wasn't a companion, I remember when the max level was 4 ... I'm not ready to move on. I do not want to move on.
And I know a lot of peole are excited for the next Dragon Age which is sooo understandable bc we've been waiting 10 years for this and people are HUNGRY but I feel like the hunger period has weaned me off of it?
I am not ready to move on and I want to stay in BG3 land a while longer, so I don't think I'll play Veilguard at release.
Lae'zel's reaction to Mindflayer!Tav is honestly the most real one. She knows the Mindflayer isn't Tav anymore; this is the tadpole, having completed ceremorphosis. The person you used to be is gone. What is left is the tadpole, and your body, twisted beyond recognition. The Mindflayer might have your memories; it might even think it is you, but they're not the same person. Like, Gale proposing to Mindflayer!Tav is cute and all, but the man should honestly know better.
Does this mean Mindflayer!Tav is automatically evil? No. Omeluum is a good example of a friendly Illithid. But Omeluum is also not its host. The Emporer is not Balduran either. At best, Mindflayer!Tav (or Mindflayer!Karlach, etc.) is an extreme case of partialism (where something of the Host's mind is left over instead of being completely subsumed). This is also likely the case with the Emporer. TL;DR: Lae'zel would not love you as a worm and I love her for being real like that.
It's funny that some people mod Astarion to have "that unsightly mole" when it's clear that was just ... a line you could say to him to be be bit mean lol. Like the facial textures in that game are sooo detailed, if he was MEANT to have "that unsightly mole" than he would've had it xD This isn't a criticism, I just think it's funny that some people went and rolled with it lol.
Btw "Mosaic of Broken Chains" is not abandoned, I'm still writing on it, the next update is just gonna take a little longer unfortunately.
Just a heads up!
I see so much Isobel x Aylin art pop up on my dash rn and I am here for it. I love my Moon Lesbians so much. Keep them coming.
*making myself comfortable in my pillowfort* I don't think I wanna explore the DatV Jumping Castle yet, BG3 is so comfy ... and the brainrot be brainrotting brainrottingly still.
