Maybe you can make the base pauldrons out of a flexible material like worbla, mold the ends to resemble feathers, and add a few large feathers on top for accuracy?

That is certainly an option, and something I’m considering. I actually ordered some worbla a couple days ago and it should be in by Friday! I only got enough for the gauntlets (sans bracers) and a little extra so I could mess around and get used to the material, since I’ve never worked with it before. I don’t think I’ll have enough for a full spare, but I’ll mold and sculpt some feathers to see how I like it and if that’s what I should do. ovo
