Probably one of the funniest references I've seen between two completely different genres of Film/TV is in The Almighty Johnsons s2e3 when Dean O'Gorman (when talking about the Giants) says "If one more of them calls me a Dwarf. I'm gonna stand on a chair and smack 'em" then proceeding to stroke his new beard, which I'm fairly certain he was growing out for the role of Fili in the hobbit at the time. It was too brilliant of a joke to be a coincidence.
