- Anders Krisár, The Birth of Us (boy).
Exploring notions of contact, The Birth of Us (boy) draws upon ideas in which we affect one another through the physical and psychological. The perfectly smooth surface of an adolescent boy’s torso is disturbed by large and forceful imprints of adult hands, which allude to a personal, psychological investigation of the imperfect relationships we endure. The flawlessness is shockingly interrupted by the brute force of inflicted marks that evoke uncomfortable thoughts of intrusion and violence. Through this approach the artist copes with his own personal familial instabilities. The work was installed in front of an image of the sorrowful mother.
