do you know how many times I've looked at that conversation and it hadn't really sunk in until just tonight that it's like 3-4 times longer for a flirty mHawke than for a flirty fHawke

ended up poking around in anders dialogue again tonight (for unfortunate and personally tragic reasons) and got to wondering if it would be feasible to have anders bring up his relationship w karl for any hawke who takes the blue option & not just w men who flirt w him. I was on the fence about it until I remembered that 1) the blue option on that wheel is basically the secret second flirt option as anders gets RIGHT into it and 2) if you turn him down he has literally NOTHING else to say to you he's like "well fine then go jump into the harbor idgaf" dhdjkdkdkf. so if I can scrape together enough voiced dialogue to patch it over (unfortunately that is one of three anders comversations in the base game that isn't fully voiced by both actors) it will be going on the list

in uhhh related news I think I might be able to hack together versions of isabela's and fenris's romances that won't have any unvoiced dialogue w trans your hawke. merrill's is very possibly a lost cause though due to the. way that it is.

I had actually—before this, recently—been eyeing the way isabela's romance scene had been put together and thinking to myself that I could probably recut it such that any differences in her romance dialogue were based on friendmance vs rivalmance, rather than Hawke's gender. so that's on the docket.

anders is another one with quite a lot of specifically gendered dialogue in his romance but, kind of uniquely to him, it's spread out through all of his scenes other than his romance scene? it uhhhhhh also occurred to me, after the isabela thought, that I might also be able to hack at anders' dialogue so that it's more approval-based than gender-based? but I'm not sure on that front yet, it would be much more of a stretch 🤔

alright I think I've gone through and backtagged everything relevant to what I might want to do when modding various followers' big dialogue files. so now I've got a tag for everyone except I think fenris (who I guess is already perfect in every way or something idk)

the one thing I know I've got to address but have stringently avoided mentioning here is that I do in fact now know what's the issue with that bug where Anders' rivalry can break abruptly in the climax with Anders Romance Dialogue Overhaul installed. I just. have been trying to avoid, at all costs, having anything whatsoever to do with Anders' big dialogue especially since there are already multiple (abandoned) mods with multiple versions already modding it lmao

anyway ~tonite~ while simmering over it I realized that I could make a completely ~separate patch~ to hotfix the bug by way of 1) using the "end script" field on a single line of dialogue to set the missing flag rather than adding it in the big dialogue itself and 2) adding a short debug script to set the flag after the fact for users who are already past the problem conversation. so. reminder to self. will be doing that when next I have the time. & will have successfully dodged taking responsibility for the contents of gen00fl_anders.cnv once again. for now

do you know if theres a mod that prevents anders from talking to you after you romance fenris? the one very anders calls fenris a wild dog?

...god I thought for sure I knew exactly which line you were talking about but then I looked... and it wasn't that one... and then I looked for the other one I thought it might be... and it wasn't that either... why does anders' dialogue have to be filled with so many fuckin landmines, jhepler pls. anyway, the one during his act 3 justice quest, right? ^^;;

as far as I know, the only mods touching his main dialogue are anders romance dialogue overhaul and anders dialogue edits, but neither of them mention that line on their mod page. probably because most anders mods are made by andersmancers and that doesn't play in an andersmance. if I’m wrong and there is a mod that takes care of that line, someone let me know!

anyway I deleted the plot flag that triggers that conversation and uploaded “anders minds his business” to dialogue mini mods. I don’t know if doing so will prevent any other conversations from triggering but I expect it was custom-made just for that conversation. I deleted the flag from his plot file because I’m allergic to his dialogue file, so this way it should be compatible with all existing anders mods.
