So cool .... Credit to @natgeotravel : Photo by @ErikaSkogg // Icicles form along the piers surrounding Anderson Dock in Wisconsin's peninsula of #DoorCounty. Now utilized as a gallery space for local artists, the #AndersonDock was originally built as a much needed deep-water dock for the village of Ephraim by Norwegian immigrant brothers, Aslag and Halvor Anderson, who had immigrated to America in the late 1840s to find work in the lumber industry. Due to the dangers of sailing on Lake Michigan and Green Bay, upon reaching the safety of the dock sailors started a tradition of carving their names and the names of their boats into the side of the warehouse to let their loved ones know they were safe. The tradition continues today with tourists adding their names or messages on the building - making the dock an iconic stop on a traveler’s journey to the Door County Peninsula.
