Ever since their run in at the hospital, it seemed like he just couldn’t stay out of the path of the friendly ER nurse that just so happened to be kickass at Peds. He’d joked about poaching her, but the more he learned about her, the more he wanted to do it. “Would you look at that? We meet again,” he teased, a gentle smile on his lips as he stepped into line for the chair lift. He had no intention of coming back down the mountain by any means other than chair lift itself. “I just wanted to ride to the top and come back down for the view. I’ve never been on a snowboard or skis a day in my life and I don’t plan on starting now. Are you riding up alone?” If so, he was half-tempted to ask if she just wanted to ride together.

"Thanks for volunteering to come up and lend an extra set of hands today. Your work is much appreciated and will be compensated in the form of lunch,” he joked, light hues shifting over to the woman he’d come to know as Andi. “It’s mostly routine checkups today, but I have a few consults scheduled for the afternoon if you want to hangout for those. If you get bored, you’re free to go back down to the ER. I know peds isn’t everyone’s thing, but you might be surprised.”

After a few swings and major misses, he’d found himself back at the bar once more. As it turned out, not many people actually knew Nathan Crane outside of the fact that he was wealthy and it was his birthday. Why had he expected anything else? Most guys like Nathan didn’t pride themselves on a giant friendship circle. If his lack of a lead wasn’t enough to throw him, then a familiar face he’d nearly forgotten about was. Andrea? There was no in way hell. It’d been years and Colorado was a long way off from New York City. Then again, he couldn’t remember where she’d spent her time when she wasn’t in the city. His attention shifted toward the bartender who’d pushed a freshly poured glass of scotch his way, her smile welcoming, but not enough to distract him. Dark brown hues flashed her way once more, but he didn’t move from his spot. Odds were, he’d need another round.

Even if he still had a week left on leave, Bennett had been called in for a consult that he just couldn’t pass up. According to the file and patient, it was going to be surgery scheduled within the next month. “It was an impressive catch,” he complimented, though his eyes shifted from the on call ER doctor and over to the nurse who’d made the discovery in the first place. “Have you ever thought about coming up to peds?” He was a lighthearted question, but he’d never say no to more nurses who knew what they were doing. “Regardless, you should be proud. This is a big and because of you, it looks like we’re getting to take a preventative action before it something gets worse.” He could practically feel the frustration of the doctor to his side, but it wasn’t anything that Bennett hadn’t dealt with before. “I think if there aren’t questions, then we’re finished here. If you wouldn’t mind sticking around, though, Miss Lozano, I just have a few more questions.” It was no surprise when the doctor immediately lifted himself from the chair and left the conference room, leaving Bennett and the other female alone. “Don’t worry about him. My wife isn’t a big fan either.”
