But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. —Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) Don't we have to just STOP and look at the beauty of the words in Isaiah 40:31? (That's some gorgeous, lyrical writing.) As a sometime valley-walker, I have to STOP and feel the hope in these words. (Isn't there iron-clad, anchor-worthy steadfastness in this verse, especially when we're in the thick of a valley?) As a foot-tapping, sometimes impatient gal, I have to STOP and be still when I'm convicted by these words. (God doesn't use clocks, after all. Waiting is just a thing to distract us while He's working.) As a looking-for-joy Jesus-chaser, I have to STOP and lean on the promises in this verse. There's so much here. So much. Need hope? Check. Need comfort? Yep. It's here. Long for an assurance of Who God is? There's everything we need in this verse. Feel like you've been down in the valley a bit too long, and pray to just RISE out of it? There's beauty we can cling to in these words. Promises that reach a Hand down and pull us up. There's absolute hope buried here, and I've gone back to drink of these words time and time again. This mid-week #WednesdayWisdom is simple: if we need to RISE, there's no higher point to fix our gaze than up at Jesus. Write this verse on a scrap of paper and tuck it inside your phone case. No one else will know it's there but you and Him. But you'll remember. I guarantee you'll know that the beauty of the words... the hope... the patience to wait... the Hand to help you rise -- are already in the palm of YOUR hand. Rise, friends! The valley's got nothing on our King. #RISE #Jesuschaser #versemapping #storyroads #valleywalking #hope #bestill #andknow
