TWO FREE GAMES THURSDAY - BERZERK BALL - The first of our two free games this week is this addictive launcher, Berzerk Ball. In this tongue-in-cheek flash game, the objective is to launch the geek as far away from you as possible. Berzerk Ball is mind addling addictive and with it's catchy music that somehow does not grate on the nerves, it's an easy winner for this week. The geek in question is very reminiscent of every "troll" you've ever encountered on the internet. Instead of a simple cannon or a slingshot, the player is awarded a choice of characters, weapons, and items to increase the distance traveled by your snarky "projectile". What makes this game stand apart from other launchers is the superior improvement system that allows you to upgrade your character for bigger mileage and bigger laughs. The items and power ups are pricey, but make for well paced upgrading and satisfying results. Keeping this in mind, there is an added satisfaction to this game that just doesn't exist in other launchers. Berzerk Ball is surprisingly detailed for a flash game, with bright, eye catching backgrounds, even including a day-night and season cycle. The physics engine pays particular attention to detail, and momentum is both won and lost appropriately as the geek comes into contact with canons, robots, bees and piles of goo. As if the four starting characters weren't enough, Berzerk Ball generously offers three unlockable characters. With all of the upgrades and unlockables available, this game guarantees a few entertaining hours of nerd-smacking fun.
