He pulls her into a one-armed embrace, softly blowing a flyaway lock from her eyes.

"You say you are not beautiful, but why should that matter to me?  Me, who am worn with scars and a hardened heart, bland humor and a cloak?  You say you have too much 'baggage'.  I do not care.  I, who have thirty plus years of sins.  I, who could have averted the Meteor.  I, the dog, the loyal, the afraid."

Claret hues lock with brown in an almost tender fashion as he gingerly leans a tall forehead against hers.  "Marly...those words I cannot say..."

"Have you remembered me yet?" Kaie asked, arms folded. She had no idea how to help him remember if he didn't.

"No," the former guardian shook his head slightly, a small sigh escaping him. "Unfortunately, I have not."

Her arms snaked around his neck as she kissed back, meeting him every bit as rough. One hand tangled into his hair while the other slid down his chest. "I never fear karma."

He gave a gruff laugh into her mouth. "I wouldn't expect you to." he breathed, moving his hands towards the buttons of her shirt. She would be breathtaking when she was bare, he knew it instantly.

"I should hope you do. After twelve years, this is your question? Though perhaps this is just another nightmare..." Kaie closed her eyes and took a breath before opening them again. "You really don't remember?"

"I can't say that I do." He studied the girl for a moment, still drawing a blank. "Though you do seem familiar. Twelve years you say?" Whoever she was, she seemed to remember him quite well. A puzzling circumstance indeed.
