Both are fantastic series. I’ve watched both of them 3+ times.

I own the ParaKiss box set and occasionally subject random friends to marathons of it since it's nice and short.  Good times.

NANA...I actually have yet to finish the anime and manga both.  There was a long stretch of times where fansubs of the manga kinda came to a halt and between it and watching certain points in the anime over again, I just sort of had too many feels to handle.  I don't think I actually have that much of the manga to read to catch up though.  And I own both of the movies, which are also frequently shown to anyone I can get to watch them...but gah, FEELS. 

It's one of the few series that can break my heart that thoroughly and still make me love it.  And the only reason I haven't sat down and finished it at this point, because it comes up in Hulu recommendations all the time, is that I know exactly the degree of pain I'm in for and I need to be ready for it.  I think I might have to cave in the next few days though.  All of my spring anime are ending (except SnK) so I'll what's a little more heartache to add to the heap? ;)

In short? YES. But for me, it became more about my impatience with the speed of the story and needing to know what was in store.  The anime is a very true adaptation of the manga from what I'm seeing though, so what you'll read is very nearly identical to what's been aired. 

I won't give spoilers, so I don't feel the need for a cut but....

The problem that you will run into is that a chunk of about 40 chapters in the middle has not yet been scanlated. So chapters 45-88 are in raws only.  You can, though, find summaries and 89 picks up at the same meet that they're currently competing at in the anime, just towards the end of the day of individual rounds instead of the team competitions. And with the pacing of the anime right now, I'm wondering if they'll manage to squeeze in this entire tournament into the remaining episodes of the season.

I actually just finished the most recent chapter (105) so I'm caught up with everything that's been translated...and yes, back to my original point, it was absolutely worth staying up until 4am to read. :D

So many delicious feels for some of my favorite woobies.  This is seriously fighting its way to the top of my list of favorite series.  So much more than I expected it to. <3<3<3 it!

What is the funniest damn thing that's ever happened to you?

I'm not really sure!  But this was really funny when it happened:

So my Spanish Professor was talking about the Basque country in Spain, and how there is a language there that bears no resemblance to any other language spoken.  I whispered 'Aliens' to the person in front of me because I'm a smartass like that.  The prof. went on to say that the locals call it 'the language from the sky.' At which point she and I burst out laughing and everyone else looked at us like we were nuts.
