I had a lecture from an astronaut yesterday and of all the things he said, one thing stuck with me the most. When he was explaining the proces of launching the shuttle he explained that in order to go around the earth they have to launch in a bow around the world. When they get into orbit, they lose the rocket. Now they are traveling on nothing than the earths gravitational pull. They are falling.
In order to fly, they fall
