Frankie and Marcus interacting is so funny to me. Frankie doesn't use contractions and calls everyone by their first and last name (by choice) and acts always a little off. like if you were to guess who at that school was an android, you'd guess it was her. then Marcus acts like a normal teenager, so it just seems like Frankie has another completely human sibling. Frankie obviously knows Marcus is an android and treats him accordingly and Marcus has to constantly remind Frankie that he's been to high school before, and that he's experienced the real world before, and that he used to have a dad before he started living with the Gaineses. He acts more like Andrew does, actually.

AU in which Douglas never tells Giselle about Marcus. Frankie and Dayton find Marcus's body in the rubble of the old lair because Frankie insisted something was under it. They bring Marcus's body back to the Gaineses' house and Sigourney rebuilds him. Marcus retained the vast majority of his old memories, but even though he still sorta wants revenge, he becomes something of a younger brother to Frankie (and to Andrew, and an older brother to Jenny) and he's enrolled in Sepulveda High under the guise of "Marcus Gaines", and along the way, he slowly loses most of his animosity for humans, even though his original creator is still a sore spot for him.

What if Marcus was sold to WARPA by Douglas or Giselle after being rebuilt and when they found the empty cell, Marcus was inside

(He was kept in a different cell than Andrew and Simone, to be clear)

That sounds like a slightly different (but still interesting) au!

I think Giselle would be unlikely to sell Marcus once she rebuilt him, since she wanted revenge on Douglas and his family, and Marcus was a familiar face that would make it hurt more. Also, she finally had an android with bionics, and above all Giselle wanted power, not just money. Money to her was a means to get power (her movies -> money to build her androids).

Douglas, however, I think could be convinced. It would take a lot of money, but since that's something Douglas doesn't have, enough of it might convince him to sell Marcus. Marcus was only left behind the first time bc Douglas was on the run and thought Marcus was irreparably destroyed. He didn't think he or anyone else would be able to rebuild him, so he left him under the rubble.

So, in this au, would Marcus be taken in by the Gaineses after they break him out of WARPA along with Andrew and Simone? Do the rats come in at any point? This is interesting, I like this!

ok hang on... the idea of Marcus's last name being davenport even before bionic showdown got to me.

In i am frankie, James Peters creates Andrew, but he gives him the last name LaPierre, distancing himself from him. He barely treats him like a son, just an android with a mission.

Douglas, on the other hand, treats Marcus like a son. He's not the best dad, but there are elements of their relationship that are reminiscent of a normal father and son ("yes dad, I'll take out the trash..."). There's certainly parts of it (like Marcus's charging station looking like a cage, and Douglas thinking he was dead forever when he was crushed, and Douglas saying Marcus won't make it to his 16th birthday) that show the aspects of their relationship that are more "creator and creation" instead, but I think it's fascinating how, despite both being programmed by their creators for specific missions, Marcus is more bonded with his creator than Andrew was (though it still wasn't perfect)

Peters went as far as choosing a different last name for Andrew so he couldn't be traced back to him (also I just realized his name may start with an A bc its the first android he's built, much like how Sigourney named hers in alphabetical order), while Marcus's name broke Douglas's alphabetical naming streak for his other kids (ABCD... Marcus), both distancing himself from Adam, Bree and Chase, and allowing Marcus to almost be his own person while still identifying him as part of Douglas's family. Marcus's name allows him to be more than an experiment (Subjects A, B, and C, and probably also D) while that's all Andrew was to Peters.
