What does "androfuck" mean? Maybe I shouldn't think this way but I would not want to be described as something that has a derogatory word in it.
Well, the first thing I would say then is don't identify yourself that way, haha. I chose that word for myself, it wasn't assigned to me. I don't find fuck to be a derogatory word. It's an integral part of my existence. It's a word that puts a lot of power in my mouth; when I say fuck you I feel just as solid as when I ask someone to fuck me. It's a word people use when they have no idea what's going on -- what the fuck? It's a word that people use to express that they just don't care about what someone else is saying or doing -- I don't give a fuck? Fuck it. It expresses pleasure and pain -- fuck yes! and just fuck! It also expresses confusion or abnormality -- this is fucked up.
I describe myself as an androfuck because I take calculated measures to fuck with traditional ideas about maleness and masculinity. I do it with the way that I look, the way that I act, the way that I talk, even the way that I fuck and the people who I let fuck me. All of those meanings for the word fuck, they all describe me too. This is my statement that I'm doing the work both to understand and to ignore hegemonic masculinity as it has been presented to me.
