“In a way, you didn’t miss much. Then again, I think that same fact gave Inaba it’s charm. With how much technology is advancing it seems to be easier and easier to loose sight of what’s important around you.”
Naoto let out a quiet sigh as she stared out at the semi-ruined town with a frown on her face. She wasn’t expecting Aigis to come up here and find her on the hill that overlooked Inaba. Despite Izanami’s defeat and things were put back somewhat like it was before she got aggressive, Naoto didn’t feel satisfied. Humanity was safe that much she knew for sure. However, that didn’t stop her from wondering just how much was sacrificed to ensure that safety. By the end of the war, she had lost count of how many causalities there were. Causalities that the normal civilians weren’t even aware of happening. If anyone asked about missing relatives the answer was always the same, they died a natural death and that was it.
She couldn’t bear to go down there and figure out exactly who all died during this war. At least there were still certain areas of the town that were left relatively unhurt during all of the constant battles. She knew it was going to take a long while for the town to recover from the destruction that she caused. A gentle shake of her head cleared those negative thoughts. If she didn’t fight, then no one would be standing here with the chance of a brighter future.
“I’m scared Aigis. What will happen to this town if they can’t rebuild everything in time? The citizens seem find with what happened over the years and none the wiser. However, I don’t know the extent of the economic damage that was sustained throughout the fighting. I never thought about what was coming after the Fog was lifted, rather I was living day to day. Now that I have the chance to sit back and reflect I’m concerned. All these people are innocent, they shouldn’t be punished for my failure.”
