how to emulate the tomodachi life on android :)
hi! i wanted to make this post for anyone else like me whos a freak about miis. i love miis so much i want them in my phone immediately. thats rather difficult in todays climate of awful prices and great games the communities have been looking forward to for years.
So: fuck nintendo. im going to find a way. and help others along the way who are like me!
this post is not about piracy. its about finetuning a android emulation experience for everyone.
i am shoving this guide under a cut because its long as fuck an im sure you dont need a block of text in your feed. love u miiblrinas (mii tumblrinas)

added eden version requirement, which fixes the grass bug!
added a potential warning for storage
added a better reliable working settings fix
first, you should have an android device thats at least an android 16. im not smart in the labels of what your phone should and shouldn't have, but ive seen that below 16, your phone isnt as optimized for eden an likely wont have enough space. (edit since this was a draft: citron-neo nightly also works as an option!)
switch games can range from 1 gb to 6 gb+, and im running on i think 128 gb max. i also use other emulators for my other games too, im just very limited in my play selection.
basically: have at least 10 gb of storage open if your playing just one or two games. be mindful of how big your nsp / xci files are, and adjust as needed. be aware that the more you play, the bigger the save files are going to get.
secondly, im using eden nightly, and the may 5th build fixes the grass issue! the difference between eden and eden nightly is that nightly is updated more frequently, but will have more bugs. but the base demo & full game work on these versions. you can likely date back an go back to a previous build if you need to due to device constrictions, just be aware the grass bug wont be visible in earlier versions.
Tip: When updating your app through the app, be mindful of the storage it takes. for some reason when updating the file size of eden went up to 20 gb ??? like thats bigger than minecraft with loads of addons an mods in mind. so its reccomended to do a clean install of eden nightly.
when you have working settings set for your custom layout, save your settings (it will be a .ini file), and save your game files if youve already got some progress in. theres a way to export all user data, but i personally have not tested if this applies to ALL data, including settings & whatnot.
getting your prod.keys is quite easy, as well as firmware. though its implied you get these from your switch itself. i cant do that due to living situations, so online picks it is!
be careful of sites an make sure to google if sites are safe before going on an downloading from the site. dont click fake download links, go in with an ad blocker an/or vpn browser the whole time or for as long as it lets you. genuinely. you will get porn if you dont.
eden provides firmware options themselves from what ive found, and i downloaded the latest version due to the game being so new. i have not tested if it works on older firmware yet. (edit: 20.3.0 also works im pretty sure, just make sure to have matching versions for prod.keys an firmware.)
make sure you make a folder dedicated to eden files, an make 3 folders in there.
games folder
prod.keys folder (if intending for multiple games)
firmware folder (if intending for multiple games)
your going to want to put your prod.keys and your title.keys in the prod.keys folder, firmware (a zip file, DONT UNZIP IT) in the firmware folder, and your nsp files in the games folder. (note: if your tomodachi life requires multiple files / one isnt a xci or nsp, you got scammed. do NOT open .exe files claiming to be the game.
once you have your .keys in the designated folder, your firmware in its firmware folder, and your copy of the demo in the game folder, your one step closer to greatness.
go get that eden nightly build. only get it from the github because theres a copycat i almost fell for (idk if its a copy cat or the same thing but they both were nearly identical except a few differences. id just download from the github to avoid the potential trouble.) easiest to get it from the eden server which i am not linking.
when downloading and installing, put those puppies you just got to work! set up your keys by clicking prod.keys instead of title.keys. Select the firmware zip youve got when prompted for firmware, and then select your game folder to be read.
Eden can deep scan, so dont worry too hard if you think u need to select games idividually.
anyways, ONE STEP CLOSER TO GREATNESS!
now this is the part i hated. i hated this part so much. this game requires finetuning settings because its so new.
you cannot simply just boot up the game. go to the settings an find something called your gpu driver manager. click it!
it will take you to a screen that looks like this. i have multiple drivers, you will not have that.:
you see that version thats got the pink circle? the selected version? yea, that version for some reason isnt downloadable normally an idk how i got it when the official turnip page doesnt have it. BUT ITS THE BEST WORKING VERSION FOR THE GAME.
EDIT 4/17/26: BETTER DRIVER FOR QUALCOMM DEVICES HERE!!! i actually linked something because it took me over a day to find this. its ridiculous i tell you.
oK so thats not entirely true. for my device its assigned the best working one as adreno t23. but this may not be the same if your device is different.
you see that fetch button? go fetch! click it, itll be a list of drivers you can install without hunting for them on the internet. theres multiple options, but theres a recommended one suggested to you. (please just get what i linked if ur device uses qualcomm.)
I implore you try multiple to see what drivers work best for you. Your main issues with the game will likely be with your gpu drivers, ive noticed.
So now you have your driver selected, what now? well, try an load up the game! see what happens! there are quite a few errors that could take place here, but ill list off some unfixables:
you cannot fix the black grass texture issue. This is simply because the game is so new, there isnt proper support for it implemented yet. but it really isnt game breaking, i promise. fixed!
When typing, you cannot imput spaces. I have no idea why. I havent tested if you can copy paste spaces in order to brute force it, but there is another bug related to keyboards that IS fixable. see below fixed!
Go to your settings an click the magnifying glass, type in keyboard, and change that setting to Real Applet. this will prevent the keyboard bug from softlocking you.
The face painter does not work, do not get your hopes up. Its very glitchy an simply isnt worth the very likely crash that will occur. face painting loads a lot of shaders at once, so be mindful of trying it.
Make miis with the intention that they will die. What i mean by this is that your game can crash at any time during the mii making process. you can edit soundly later, just dont get so attached you bawl your eyes out <- nearly me earlier.
This crash at any time fear can be applied outside of game too. save frequently, an be weary opening up new shops because it might trigger a crash.
After you get further in the game, you may notice that the keyboard saved your previous thing you wrote. To bypass this from happening an crashing before you make a mii: 1. save and quit, shut down the game before making a mii. 2. reboot up the game as normal. 3. before imputting any text in, make your mii so theres no previous logged text.
NEW FIX TO SOFTLOCK NAMING: 1. split screen your game to a app that has texting. discord works. 2. open text box an keyboard on said app. 3. tap on the game, enter yoir text when prompted. 4. push your version of your phones back button to enter. there you go!
Okay, thats all i can think of unfixable wise. But really, this game can be finetuned by long pressing the game icon, an going to click advanced settings for your game.
here are the settings i have checked that make an active difference. this is not a strict guide for your specific device, but merely suggestions that may help:
resolution: 0.75x tends to work best
vsync mode : FIFO on
anti-aliasing method: FXAA
GPU mode: accurate (balanced works fine too)
disk shader cache: on
Asynchronous presentation: on
enable buffer history: on (may need to turn this off sometimes)
GPU unswizzle settings: on, default (large, medium, medium)
GPU unswizzle chunk size: medium
Skip CPU invalidation: on (may need to turn off sometimes)
software keyboard: real applet
-----
ok that list wasnt as long as it felt like when finetuning in eden. fuck.
ANYWAYS. Now your gonna wanna go back out of the settings youve set, an click on that launch button! itll prompt for global settings or custom settings. So id reccomend trying both if you experience frequent crashing.
This game is very prone to crashing like 2 or 3 times before it boots up normally for me. Dont be scared if it crashes before loadup, just keep fiddling with launching the custom or global versions till you get consistent gameplay up an going.
i think thats like. everything? if you have issues, please comment an ill do my best to help even if im not a tech wizard. i for real feel like i missed something, so im happy to assist any other mii freaks like ourselves.
i learned this experience the hard way an with little to no help. i am certain it is possible to brute force the process, but i like helping :)
this post may get taken down at some point if it violates some term of service or whatever. so be quick, be smart, be beautiful & have fun, ok?
