Airtel launches Android - based STB, sees increase in DTH ARPU #Bharti #Airtel launched #Android based set top box that allows any #television to be converted into a smart TV
The battle of operating systems is raging ferociously without an end in sight. When it comes to Pay TV market, Linux has been dominating the Set-Top-Box marketplace. However, the Android Set Top Box has been making headway recently and edging into the lead, as operators look to deploy a Hybrid DVB-C/T/S solution.
Comigo’s solution is a comprehensive multi-screen platform presenting exciting, interactive and ground-breaking personal and social capabilities. Comigo platform includes Android based STB, Client applications for iOS/Android smartphones and tablets, as well as back-end middleware supporting Comigo's unique features and capabilities.
"Comigo launches its new generation of set-top-boxes to deliver an advanced set of functionality as
part of a highly intuitive and exciting TV experience.
"Despite the fact that the Linux operating system has, until recently, been more common as the Set-Top-Box of choice for the pay-TV market, we now see that operators entering the OTT/IPTV market or those who like to deploy a Hybrid DVB-C/T/S solution, are looking for the adaptation of the Android platform."
