WHO: Sirius Black and Andromeda Black WHERE: An empty corridor WHEN: January 7th, 11:55PM
Breakfast in the Great Hall usually wasn’t interrupted by screaming. Despite the attack and the dismal mood throughout almost the entire castle, everything had seemed normal, until the post arrived. Sirius hadn’t noticed what everyone was about to see until he heard the piercing screams of a girl across the room. Turning his head immediately, he discovered it was Andromeda, and felt a rush of worry. It wasn’t like he could get up and go over to her though, so he was left wondering what the source of her panic was.
And then he saw the papers.
He swallowed hard as he looked at the photos, a strange conflict suddenly rising inside him. When he’d been told about the deaths of his estranged family members, the effect was minimal, but seeing this was...horrifying, jarring. He despised them, but he grew up with them. And seeing people that you grew up with brutally murdered wasn’t the best addition to breakfast. He forced himself to tear his eyes away from it, watching as Andromeda was lead out and as James hopped up to get Madame Pomfrey’s attention. After he’d spoken with Mary Macdonald, he’d gotten up and rushed to the dorm to grab the map. Sirius decided he’d go to Andromeda once she was alone; they been able to speak since the family members arrived, and this seemed like the time.
Looking at the map every now and then served as a good distraction, and hours had passed before Sirius decided it was a good time to find his cousin. He made his way down the corridors of the castle, glancing at the map a few times to make sure he was nearing where Andromeda was. Before he turned a corner, he pressed his wand to the parchment, whispering, “Mischief managed,” and then tucked away both items. Sirius continued walking, and spotted Andromeda, his pace quickening as he moved towards her. “Andie, hey. Are you alright?” He shook his head. “Stupid question, ‘course you aren’t.”
