You said you need help with Gods/Myth, right? What kind of myth are we talking cuz I can gladly help flesh out some myth stories!

As far as Gods (or goddesses, could be either or) go, I have a pretty set list of basics:

A Sun God (name can be a pun on an ancient language, i.e. Helio-, Sol-, or Grian- based)

A Moon god (Lun-, Nyx-, Selen-, etc)

A head of the pantheon (think king type names)

A God of the Home (kinda like Hestia)

Is your book set in modern day? A God of technology

Is your book set in ancient times? A God of the Harvest

There are so many more, but these seem to be like a starter kit for your very own pantheon!

So, the story is set in a very much non-Earth, in a medieval/ancient world-inspired fantasy setting. And I'm toying with the idea of having maybe not a standard pantheon, but a set up where there are multiple gods, but people tend to devote themselves more to one or another, rather than worshiping all of them for different reasons.

(Partly because I want the deities to perhaps play some kind of role in the magic system of the world?? I'm not entirely sure.)

Every deity is going to have an actual name, but also at least one epithet, since that's kind of fun to come up with. (as not-the-best examples that I came up with in all of 5 seconds, think something like "the reaper", "the devourer", "the queen of the night", "the [adjective] [noun]", etc.)

As for myths, well I particularly need stuff about mythical or magic items. They don't even need to be ancient history, but can be relatively recent (within the last few centuries or so). I want the myths more to center around the interactions between gods and mortals, and the actions of people who were blessed or cursed by the gods rather than interactions between the gods themselves. This is a society where the gods are seen as slightly (key world slightly) more hands-on than in some other religions, fantastical or otherwise.

So, you said "writer's choice", which ends up with me talking about Bas and Gabriel, cause I'm in love with the two of them.

Gabriel

Gabriel is Heaven's golden boy. Or he's supposed to be. As the son of the original Gabriel, and a Prince of Heaven, everyone expects him to be perfect. But he's not. In fact, he absolutely hates it there. He wants to go somewhere else, do something else, be someone else.

He feels suffocated by the weight of everyone's expectations on him, and he hates it. He's been told since birth who he's supposed to be and what he's supposed to do, but the more people tell him that, the more he wants to escape.

He's a chaotic disaster. Curly blond hair that refuses to be anything but a mess, has no consistent sense of style, has his septum pierced, has tried smoking at least once, but just wound up choking. Really gay, and also desperately in love with his best friend, Sebastien.

Basically, he's just a young person trying to figure himself out, but no one seems willing to let that happen.

Sebastien

Gabriel's best friend, and has been for years. The son of another angel. If Gabriel is Heaven's golden boy, then Bas is their scapegoat. His dad slept with a demon, giving him a demon half-sister. Everyone seems to believe that his father's mistakes mark Bastien for the same failures.

Everyone assumes he's the one influencing Gabriel to do his rebellious stunts, but in reality he's just an idiot with a crush who will follow his best friend to Hell and back. (literally)

He can't stand his full name, and refuses to respond to it. Everyone calls him Bastien or Bas (Gabriel came up with that one), except for his dad, and maybe God. (they can be really formal sometimes)

Bas has a good heart, and really just wants his best friend to be happy, and maybe kiss him. He's tired of being judged based on his father's actions, and is also kind of bored of the stiff and boringness of Heaven.

Also, he loves to tease Gabriel. Never meanly, but they have a lot of inside jokes and lighthearted bickering going on. Somewhere between "old married couple" and "siblings" when it comes to the banter scale.
