Andy has just graduated from UEA, having played for Norwich for three years. During this time, he has hit many a player with bludgers, become the society’s Secretary, received the team’s first hospitalising injury, acquired a fellow Quidditch-playing housemate with whom he has the biggest of love-hate relationships and, alongside said housemate, hosted plenty of house parties to which the Nifflers have been happy guests. It’s been quite a ride, that will only continue into next year as he stays nearby!
Andy is a useful person to have around when the game gets chaotic and there are many players in the same zone. He can get in a number of beats in the confusion.

It’s difficult to know what to say about this photo. Only... Andy is a firm ambassador of Friendship and Fun... and... teamwork?
He also makes an excellent Snape! (That sounds a bit like damning by faint praise, but there’s a compliment in there somewhere. Also, for friendly advice: the team react strongly to the question of Pro-Snape or Anti-Snape. Tread carefully!)
But it’s not all fun and games. The Man of Peel should be taken with utter seriousness.
On the pitch: Andy is one of the stealthier, subtler beaters, ready to catch out any chaser unawares. Chasers taking the approach of remaining on the wing aren’t safe from him, which also causes strategies such as trolling to disintegrate. He puts in an effort to behold in matches: willing to move all around the pitch, he sprints everywhere, wasting no time to recover from beats and switch from offensive to defensive beating. He is swift to collect fallen bludgers, even when they have gone far, helping us keep bludger possession. His high level of fitness enables him to keep up his best standard for a long time.
Off the pitch: Andy is another character with many sides to him. In practices, he has a gentle manner, polite and lovely - except perhaps if you’re Matt. While quiet, Andy is a great addition to any conversation: he possesses a wit as sharp as a knife, while in more serious discussions he provides pacifying support and aids civility. Otherwise, when he is not being our Secretary, or Snape, Kylo Ren, Spider-Man or Bananaman, he is an aspiring author, having completed his New Year Resolution to write and publish a book: he has written a highly readable collection of short stories, titled Superhumanity. Maybe we’ll see his name in print soon! In the meantime, we’ll see it here, on the Norwich Nifflers’ Tumblr page (next best thing, right?).
Now we’ve introduced Andy, it makes sense to next write about his partner-in-crime: Matt Frampton!
Society AGM Approaching!
On the 14th, the Annual General Meeting will take place, where awards will be handed out and the committee for 2016/17 will be announced. These are the roles members can run for:
Captain
What Georgie brought to the role: loyalty and dedication, having interest in her team and everyone’s well-being; effort in organising tournament arrangements.
President
What Tim brought to the role: both friendly and firm-but-fair authority; general guidance and helping everyone feel included by explaining when there’s any confusion.
Treasurer
What Sarah brought to the role: organisation and collaboration; care over when the society needs to be careful with money, keeping us away from landing in debt!
Secretary
What Andy brought to the role: support in society discussions when the committee needs to express a matter of concern; a civil atmosphere.
Social Secretary
What Lizzie brought to the role: awareness of what socials we can hold when and where, a huge variety of socials for everyone; leading warm-up drills.
Equality and Diversity Champion
What Abi brought to the role: balancing being approachable and accommodating to the preferences of members whilst continuing to protect other members; Abi proved that while she’s sweet, she’s certainly no pushover and will not tolerate behaviour that deliberately or off-handedly excludes people, whether this exclusion is directed towards individual members... or the entire team’s representation in the media.
Union Council Rep
What Emma brought to the role: sharing the information drafted at meetings, so that every member has a chance to see what’s going on and if they want a say about any matters within the Union; regularly attending practice and co-running many practices.
