Where did this band and their label come from? I'd never heard of Sinkhole Records or Cyanides, but they've emerged from the proverbial independent label womb, fully formed.
This S/T 7" debut is confident, imminently listenable, and hard to categorize. Andy Kahn and Matt Stuttler's band (they also release music under the name Molten Bone) does have elements of garage rock, but also punk. It reminds me a bit of Proto Idiot, Freak Genes and Germ House. This is melodic, jagged and scuzzy.
Cyanides are based in St. Louis which has, in the last year or so, burst upon the scene. Inscrutable Records' stable of bands, the reissue of The Aerovons and The Opera Bell Band have garnered posts in the last 6 months alone. And don't forget Lumpy Records is in St. Louis as well.
