i keep religionposting on main and for that i am minimally sorry but if you want a mildly fun anecdote, when i was a sixth grader in catholic school there was a kid in my class who kept asking our teacher why dinosaurs weren't in the bible (his family wasn't religious) and i think he expected her to give some roundabout avoidant non answer. but because my sixth grade religion teacher was an icon and a proper catholic who taught the only version of the old testament i ever knew, she was like "because this isn't a history book or a biology book. it's a collection of stories to teach us about the Lord. and He and the people telling these stories didn't need dinosaurs to do the teaching." and ngl i think about that constantly especially when biblical literalists and/or creationists start making the internet rounds again.
