"The documentary American Promise follows the lives of two African American boys as they grow up in the world of an elite, mostly white Manhattan prep school. Released during Black Male Achievement Month, this film is part of a broader effort to address the many barriers African American boys face - no matter what school they attend. Gaps in both opportunity and achievement are a result of the broader context of harmful media depictions, implicit bias and discrimination. "American Promise" provides a useful jumping off point for making change on these issues."
