Human Resources at Froggy's
So, you know I'm a good friend when I leave MY benefit to go watch someone perform because "It may be the only time." Call me a push over.
I got to Froggy's Boathouse for Ariel's birthday bash around 11pm. I surveyed the crowd, found the Sir Kutta from DK and his crew (Happy Birthday!), Muenster and Anetix right away. Good company. D. Tek and Def 1 joined shortly after and I even ran into Wrex and RJ Tree Killah. And honestly, this was the most packed hip hop event I've seen in Fort Worth lately. Big props Ariel.
Anetix took the stage, and I had to see this spit fire. I love watching him perform. Not only are his lyrics meaningful and intelligent, but he delivers them with such passion and fervor you just can't help but get drawn in. I've gotten the pleasure to know this guy, and he's the kind of life we need in the hip hop scene. He's a good boyfriend, father, he's driven, intelligent, and I've said this before, had I not seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't think this guy was an MC. I'm looking forward to more out of this guy.
Next performance I watched, Human Resources. I've heard they could be the top hip/hop group in DFW. I can see that. But due to some really crappy sound problems, I didn't get to witness them in their fullness. What I did see was decent, but the sound guy did these guys a disservice. Someone told me, if you play at Froggy's, bring your own equipment. With that being said, I think we need a do over. These guys need to perform one more time with a better system. I don't care where, just do it. I liked the dynamic between all the different MC's and I already know D. Teknics is good at what he does. So someone make that happen *ahem*. Listened to them on Facebook, and I definitely like it. I could totally bump this in my car on repeat. Especially "Eye's Out for the Light". Love it.
Froggy's in general is a decent spot. The back patio area is kind of cool minus the pool. Ew. The bathrooms had no paper towels and were a bit iffy. But for certain types of parties, this spot would work. I suggest not serving in plastic cups. I, for one, prefer to drink out of a glass. Period. No plastic, no cans, GLASS. But to each their own and I just ordered Bud Light in a bottle. Oh, and did I mention the sound sucked? Made me miss Lola's.
