How'd it go!? Did you win? Did you have fun? What was the thing that was was most surprising/unexpected about being in it for real compared to your expectations?

FUCKING INCREDIBLY. the crowd was soooo loud before anyone had even gone out there, and kept being loud for such a huge chunk of the night. we got all the classic wrestling chants, your "fight forever"s and "this is awesome"s and "you sick fuck"s. it's so magical for all the planned match choreography to work the crowd exactly how you want it to. a whole bunch of transgender wrestlers being given the tools to participate in the artform we all love. FUCK

YES OH MY GOD. so much fun. i chose a character archetype that's very very similar to myself so it all felt incredibly natural to just go out there and soak it all in. AND THE REST OF THE MATCHES WERE SO COOL? my wrestle-mom (akin to drag moms and their drag daughters) flung zir own biological child around like a sledgehammer. opposite sides by the way. everyone did so incredibly and after my match was done i just got to stand at the back of the room and watch everyone else show off. FUCK

I WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING. you hear the crowd not as individual voices but their own force. i'm sure if i had a less planned match i would have tried harder to pay attention to them but everything still worked as it should with cheers and boos in the right places. 🚨DEVASTATINGLY OUT-OF-KAYFABE STATEMENT: the actual performance didn't hurt NEARLY as bad as some practices. i don't know if that's because i've become stronger over the course of 10 weeks or because i was trained well enough to not get hurt. no clue

TL:DR; live professional wrestling is the most magical shit in the world.

sorry i didn't get to this for like two full weeks 😭

the wrasslin's going great! by about week 5 we wrapped up the fundamentals (rolls, bumps, strikes) and the remaining weeks are just figuring out and specializing in whatever shit we want to do. we've got a luchadora and some monsters and cowboys and aliens... and me, a normal human man who wants to do some dumbass submission moves

when we were starting out, the "welcome" email said that we could do any kind of performance, leaving the door open for drag show typical behaviors. 'cause the corpse we're succeeding, t-boy wrestling, had a lot of drag and non-(shoot)wrestling components. but literally everyone that signed up and has been going to these training sessions wants to do a pro wrestling match! we're just making a wrestling company!

is a triple-drabble okay. speedball "&" swerve, and the & is in quotation marks because there is nothing friendly going on. post dynamite 1/21/26 which held speedball vs samoa joe and swerve vs kevin ✅ let's unofficially title this one "desperate measures"

"Hey, Speedball!"

Swerve does everything, now, with the confidence of a panther prowling for prey. It's no different when he calls down the hall for Mike– even though, logically, he's already eaten his gazelle for the day.

Kevin. Kevin was the gazelle for the day. The thought makes Mike… hot all over, the kind of heat you get from anger starting to sear, from– glancing across the bar, watching someone flirt with your boyfriend. Jealous indignation. To place why is beyond them, already tired, bruised from losing to Joe.

"Nice to see you again," says Swerve once he's closed the distance, a little courteous, a little hungry. "Watched your match earlier tonight, great stuff."

There's just… something about Swerve that makes Mike nervous, though. Like they're watching Swerve prod in the soil in preparation of planting flowers. A glint in the eyes. "I did too," Mike returns, personable as always. "Kevin gave you a fight."

Swerve smiles, wide and proud. It shouldn't be his pride to show. "You're damn right." Then, "You've been teachin' him pretty well."

"How do you know?"

"Oh, I know." Satisfied, "Tasted you all over him."

Inflammatory phrasing. Despite themselves, their hackles raise.

But Swerve keeps going. "You sure you're teachin' him the right things, though?" And when Mike doesn't respond to blatant insult, "Sure you're not poisoning the well–"

"–Sorry, why would I do that?" Mike can feel it, the sear starting to burn. "I obviously want to see him succeed, right? He's come so far, he's the–"

"–Future of this business," Swerve concludes. Mike remembers, in a flash, the way Kevin's muscles puffed up in the face of Swerve. Like he was responding to a challenge. Venomous, "He loves it when you call 'im that."

Swerve slinks off, after that. Somewhere, a seed sprouts.
