Hii! Just want to ask, what is your opinion on piper? I've seen people love and hate her character and I heard she's one of the MC's in hoo, and I'm hesitating to read the series because of the hate (mostly about her and Jason)

hi! i personally do not find piper as intriguing as i find the other characters, such as hazel or frank, but that (i feel) is mostly because uncle rick didn’t really build upon her character the way he could have. the lost hero is definitely the silver trio trope in a sense, and unfortunately i think her ability to grow as a character was overshadowed by the immediate “connection” she was given with jason. bro easily accepted the situation at hand between them, i think it was harder for her to come to acceptance about it.

but that being said, you definitely shouldn’t let that stop you from reading the series! HoO is amazing and it’s refreshing to see more characters that have various abilities and outlooks on the world. the whole piper and jason situation does drag on throughout the series but i suppose rick either couldn’t leave it stranded or completely embed it. i think it was just the realistic way of showing teens and their ways of coping or coming together after something very off occurred to them.

i’m so sorry this is so long! i do like piper but she can be a little underwhelming at times, but i honestly think that’s because of the plot — i suppose one of the character’s just had to be a little underdeveloped. but don’t let that stop you from reading the series, it’s definitely worth it :)
