I've just been getting all the umbrella academy news via liveblogging updates from you and the rest of tumblr and I have no idea what the plot is but I'm fairly confident it was a good season so I might actually watch it

I wanna hear about your headcanons for warriors and proxi and the fairy brand! (if you don't mind)

Okay, so, I talked about my Fairy Brand System before in these posts here. You can go back to these to reference how the system works in general. I am totally up for more specific questions about it though.

As for Proxi in specific, there's a lot more to work with.

For one thing, she's not just a companion fairy, but I'll get to that in a bit.

So, Warriors, during the war, befriended a lot of fairies. It's mentioned in the first level, and some later levels, that Cia's forces are hunting fairies. That's why we need to save Proxi in the start. That's why all the fairies you get in Adventure Mode have to be rescued. And, I believe a lot of the push to save these fairies was from Warriors, since he has Proxi and thus is the closest to the issue.

But there's a connection between Warriors and Proxi that runs a bit deeper than with any of the other fairies. I mean, Proxi is his fairy.

This ended up, MUCH LONGER than I intended, so this whole bit is going under a cut.

So, there are, in my mind, three types of fairies. Bottle Fairies, which are the fairies you carry around in bottles in most games. Not much to say about them. And then there are two types of Companion Fairies.

The first kind of Companion Fairies are the kind the fairies in HW's My Fairy section are. They're not Bottle Fairies, so they help out more than just by healing wounds. In HW they do this by providing magic help and boosts in battle. Another good example of this kind of Companion Fairy is Tatl in Majora's Mask, or Ciela in Phantom Hourglass.

The second kind of Companion Fairies I call Bonded Fairies. Bonded Fairies are a bit, more involved than other fairies in general. A Bonded Fairy is, in some way, connected to the person they're acting as a companion for. Like, in Ocarina of Time every Kokiri has a Bonded Fairy. That is their fairy, that fairy is theirs and they are their fairy's. They belong to each other, they're bonded. And, I don't think you need to be Kokiri to have a Bonded Fairy. And these fairies just, know when they find their person. It's instinctual, something that just is for them. A good example of this kind of fairy, alongside all the Kokiri's fairies, is Navi. Proxi is also this kind of fairy.

So, these fairies have a strong connection to their people. I actually believe that small fairies can't make their own magic, and so have to draw it from somewhere else. And they need magic to stay healthy, being magic creatures. It won't kill them, but a lack of magic is very unhealthy for them. Mostly they draw it from Great Fairies, who can make their own magic. But Bonded Fairies spend a lot of time away from the Great Fairies in order to stick by their person. So instead, they draw magic from their person.

I mention Warriors providing magic to Proxi, and this is what I mean. Proxi is bonded to Warriors, he is her person and she is his fairy. So he provides her the magic she needs. And he is well aware of this. Actually, all of the companion fairies in HW I imagine draw from various warriors during the war, but Proxi is the only one who draws from only one person and chooses to draw from him over the Great Fairies.

This bond is also why she vanishes into his chest in the opening cutscene and why I mentioned she resided in his chest in the fic. She's not actually, literally in his chest, that's just her entry/exit point. What she's actually doing is taking refuge in Warriors' soul. It's something she can do as a result of this bond, and not something the other fairies can do. This connection is also why she can act as his voice. It's not full on telepathy, but they can sort of feel what the other is feeling and thinking. No words, but understanding.

This is why the only fairy Warriors ever fought with is Proxi. Why she is the one who lets his Fairy Brand work, and only her. She's his voice, and beyond that she's his fairy, and he's her person. They are connected, bonded. And as such, the chances of seeing one without the other are very, very slim.

Seriously though it's gotta be so terrifying and isolating for Truman to realise this, because he reaches out to his friends and family when stuff starts happening and they all dismiss him. Like it would still suck if he decided to Batman it 'I must do this alone' but he actively reached out and got turned away and realised they're all in on it? That's probably my worst nightmare actually

yEAH that’s why imo it’s a scarier film than similar paranoia-inducing films like e.g. the matrix... it’s not just that everything is fake, it’s that everyone else knows & are actively keeping the truth from him... bcos they don’t actually care for him enough to tell him the truth... like yeah that’s the Nightmare Scenario

Frostiron prompt: Loki meets Morgan

To say that Tony was apprehensive was an understatement. Divorce was hard on any kid, but having Daddy dating again was even worse. Having Daddy dating a guy, and a god at that, was asking a lot. Having Daddy dating a god who’d previously been on the world’s top ten most wanted criminals list was probably asking too much.

“Relax,” Loki said, looking amused. He settled a hand on the back of Tony’s neck, fingers massaging gently.

“I’m relaxed. I’m totally relaxed,” Tony said, which was a complete lie and they both knew it.

Suddenly, the door flew open and Morgan sprinted out. “Daddy!” she screamed, barreling towards Tony. Happy waved and shut the door to give them some time.

“Pumpkin!” Tony scooped her up and spun her around in a circle. She giggled wildly and threw her arms around his neck. Tony hugged her tightly and buried his face in her hair for a moment. She was getting to the point where she’d be too heavy to lift soon, and he was dreading that.

“Who’re you?” Morgan asked, wiggling and craning her head around to peer at Loki.

“My name is Loki. Who’re you?” Loki asked.

Morgan giggled. “I’m Morgan Stark,” she said. “I’m six. How old are you?”

“I am 1,056 years old,” Loki said.

“Wow,” Morgan breathed. “That’s really old.”

“Morgan!” Tony said.

“Well, it is,” she said, shrugging.

“She’s right. I am old,” Loki said. “But you know what?”

“What?” Morgan asked.

“I’m actually considered young for my world,” Loki told her.

Morgan narrowed her eyes. “You’re from Asgard, right? Like Uncle Thor? Is he really as cool as he says he is?”

“Not at all,” Loki said somberly. “Did he ever tell you about the time he got his head stuck in a river?”

“No!” Morgan said.

“No,” Tony said, equally curious.

“Of course not. Well...”

Listening to the way Morgan dissolved into giggles as Loki described his brother’s butt naked misfortune, Tony was hardpressed to remember why he’d ever been concerned.

I'm afab and it took me ages to figure stuff out but I'm gonna try using demigirl as a label for a while. Thanks to this amazing blog for the afab demigirl positivity! I'm gonna try and tell my therapist tomorrow, fingers crossed
