What's wrong with CB? The ones i visited in CA are nice
It may be a regional issue, but the Corner Bakeries in Chicago are terrible. The food quality is low, orders are often wrong, and I’ve had food poisoning from them several times. The last time I ate there, they made my sandwich with the heels of the bread.
Corner Bakery seems to survive in the city mainly by being the last, or rather only, resort -- they often situate themselves in areas with either no other food, only fast food, or only very expensive food. One of the places I got food poisoning from them (from a lemon pound cake slice) was in a museum where they were the only food.
They just...don’t have good food. But it’s tempting to want to go there when nothing around them looks good either, which is why I always warn people away. :D
