It's time for more kaiju correction tidbits--

Yet again, G-Force does not kill Destroyer, Godzilla does. When Godzilla literally lights Destroyer up, his body is blazing hot from Godzilla's heat ray. When he flies in the air to retreat, the Super XIII (Why was it "Super X2" and then "Super XIII"?) fires at him with its freeze laser, causing Destroyer to fall out of the sky. This entire time, Godzilla's been standing his ground, superheating his position (they even point out that Godzilla's not moving when Destroyer falls). When Destroyer finally hits the ground, the sudden change in temperatures from blazing heat to freezing cold and heat again is what kills Destroyer. Godzilla uses science to wipe that bastard out rather than violence.

Here's the thing guys: these movies aren't made for you. They're Japanese films made by Japanese filmmakers for a Japanese audience. A thing about Japanese storytelling is that sometimes the most important plot points of a story are the most negligible thing you can imagine. Here in America, everything has to be spelt out explicitly for the American audience, elsewise they won't get it. In Japan, that's just not the case. In fact, the more obscure it is, the more they seem to like it.

I had a conversation with someone about 17 years ago who was trying to put forth the idea that it's not Junior at the end of Godzilla vs. Destroyer and was demanding proof in the film itself that it was indeed Junior. And I was trying to tell them about this whole thing with Japanese storytelling and how Junior's resurrection built upon the birth of Godzilla shown to us back in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (which Ifukube telegraphed somewhat by using musical cues from King Ghidorah in Destroyer). And they just wouldn't listen and it got to the point where they were like "You're stopping short of calling us Americans idiots." And I more or less went "Yep" and walked away. They just wouldn't listen and didn't care about the way it is. They wanted to be catered to and western pals... you just aren't catered to in these things.

Varan is still 50 meters tall in Destroy All Monsters, not 10. The use of a model (actually two models, a larger one for close up shots and a smaller one for far away ones like when he lands at Mt. Fuji) to bring him to life in that film has no baring on his size in relationship to the other monsters.

The Champion Matsuri title of Destroy All Monsters, Gojira: Dengeki Daisakusen, best translates in English as Godzilla: Great Lightning-Fast Strategy. And don't let anyone try to tell you it's "Godzilla: Operation Blitzkrieg." If that was meant to be the translation, the word "Buritsukurigu" or "Sokusensokketsu" would be in there somewhere.

Can we please put this to sleep for good? Son of Godzilla does not take place in the fughin’ 1980s or 1990s. As proof? Minya is shown on Monster Island in 1972 in Godzilla vs. Gigan. How can that be if he hasn't been born yet?

While we're at it, Godzilla vs. Megalon takes place in the year 197X, not 1971. I don't care what Ted Thomas says, he didn't translate it properly.

Angilas is in Siberia in the opening of Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla '74. Why did he go there? He’s visiting his homeland. We're told he's from Siberia in the Japanese dialogue of Godzilla Raids Again.
