#3 - Ang Larawan
I think the movie “Ang Larawan” is all about how the Filipinos keeps their culture and will never give up fighting on what they believed in. When the Paula and Candida were staying with their father, it shows how much they regret saying hurtful words to their father, and instead of betraying him by leaving him alone, they chose to be with him as an apology on what they have done. When they were also struggling due to financial expenses, they showed that no matter how much they dislike the painting their father made for them, they didn’t sell it to any possible buyers. Rather, they burnt it, which made them feel free of problems.
I believe the movie shows that no matter how much Filipinos struggle due to a lot of problems, it’s no use in running away. Just like Paula and Candida, once they have decided what they think is right, they can be free on whatever was hunting them and move on to the future with a peaceful mindset. I also think that the movie shows that there are still Filipinos who will never give up on what they have and will forever fight for it, especially if it was against other countries. Even if they were offered with a lot of money, declining that amount just to protect what they have can make a lot of difference in our country as it showcases that Filipinos are not materialistic people but rather humans with a heart.
