4, 6 and 7 for the dice ask!
You’ll have to excuse the picture quality, I kind of took these at night with less than optimal lighting so the color might be wonky. They probably won’t do the dice justice, haha.
4. Favorite set?
Ohh, this is so difficult...I don’t have that many full sets of dice just yet (like, six total plus some individual dice),but they all have something that I really love...
...But I do think the pink agate set I bought like a month back is hella cute.
Just look at the deep, vibrant magenta color! The lovely white striations! The way the numbers are carved (albeit slightly off center) into the stone! Not to mention they’re nice and cool to the touch, with just that good bit of extra weight to them... AHHHHH
6. Favorite style/series of dice?
I don’t know if that counts as a series, but...Gio Lasar’s been making these lovely sets of dice based on space and the sky, and I’ve really been into their look!
In fact, this is a sample selection I got through one of their kickstarters! I love the way they’re made to resemble starry skies, and the d10 and d100s depicting moons and planets alongside their respective number are just really cute!
7. Best dice colors?
RAINBOW, MOTHERFUCKER.
I’ve yet to find a color I DON’T like for these things. So far most of my sets are either really brightly colored or more on the dark but glittery side...I’d love to get a cute little pastel set or two at some point though!
(It’s angryprinnies over anon): 1, 2, 7, 17, 24, 50, 92 for the DnD warm up ask. Let’s take Osco for this one. :)
Wow, that’s a lot...Sorry it took so long for me to get to it! Let me think...
1. If your character wasn’t an adventurer, what livelihood would they lead?
Considering the whole “noble family” background, I’d assume they’d likely have some sort of political position, or at the very least, involve themself in their community quite a bit. Ooh, maybe like a lawyer? Do lawyers exist in high fantasy? Though considering their ridiculously chivalrous spirit they’d probably take a lot of pro bono cases and it wouldn’t exactly be much of a lucrative business, haha.
2. Who in the party would your character trust the most with their life?
Whatever healer is part of the group, most likely. Because any good tank and/or DPS respects and cherishes their goddamn healer, okay?
7. Describe your character’s current appearance: clothes, armor, scars they’ve picked up along the journey, etc.
Ahh, I’ve been meaning to draw them for so long, but armors are hard and also I can’t bring myself to draw at all, haha...
First things first, pretty much full plate armor. It’s got some dents and scratches, but it’s sturdy and they always keep it polished and well-maintained. They always wanted to wear heels on a casual basis, but to be fair it isn’t super practical while donning a heavy armor and riding a goddamn horse all the time, so they don’t really do it much (though they’d probably have some killer looking legs). They used to have this little...capelet? shoulder? thing? with their family’s crest on it, but it tore during some combat or another and the remaining (mostly unrecognisable) scrap is tied to their trident as a little ornament. Their clothes are otherwise pretty plain, consisting of pants and a loose blouse most of the time. The more comfortable and easy to wear under their suit of armor, the better.
Obviously Osco also has their fair share of scars, some more prominent than others. I like to imagine there being like, visible spell scars in some places like magical burns and whatnot. One particularly prominent scar is on the left side of their stomach, where I’d assume some pretty big beast chewed off a big chunk that probably includes at least a kidney and had to be extensively mended through magic. The bite marks remain visible there on both their front and back, and the skin that had to be recreated to compensate for what was torn off is a paler shade and still somewhat sensitive.
What else...Well they grew out their hair a lot over time. Before it was short and kind of bushy, and now I’d say it reaches a little past their shoulder? Honestly the way I drew it last time kind of made it look like some kind of long, messy mullet, so like, I wouldn’t take that as much of a reference, haha...
17. What is your character’s favorite season?
Their homeland is typically covered in snow year-long, so Osco really enjoys bright, colorful seasons like spring, though they are kind of weak to the heat, which isn’t super surprising when you think of all the armor they’re constantly wearing.
24. Which other player character does your character find themselves having the most in common with?
Considering Osco hasn’t exactly been a player character in several years, I feel like this is a pretty hard question to answer at present. Back then, however, they did surprisingly get along with the rogue assassin of the group, especially in terms of being ridiculously knowledgeable of nobility while also absolutely despising what the upper class stands for. It was a strange, but endearing sort of relationship.
50. Who in the party would your character prioritize rescuing, in dire circumstances?
Short answer? Everyone.
Honestly they’d probably be the first one to step in front of danger to ensure the the rest of the party gets a chance to run away and survive. They’re not the kind of person to want to leave anyone behind, no matter how shitty they’ve been towards them.
92. What does your character hope for the afterlife?
Peacefully watching over others, hoping what they achieved in their lifetime has helped at least one person find comfort and happiness.
1 and 2 for the DnD ask!
1. A favorite character you have played.
I just answered this earlier, but I always love just gushing about my own characters, haha. I wonder if that makes me self-centered.
I made this character for Pathfinder called Osrin Corbeck, or Osco for short. They're a human cavalier and my very first genderqueer character. I just couldn't fully align them at either end of the gender spectrum. At the time, I'd written them something along the lines of "they're biologically female but raised as male by a very misogynistic cavalier father and culture", but over time, and after learning more about transgender and nonbinary people, it just made much more sense to apply that label to them. I didn't keep much of that awful background either, just that they were raised in a noble family of cavaliers. The thought of people being used or taken advantage of by rich people made them sick as they'd seen it happen too often as a child, so rather than pledging allegiance to other nobles or royalty as their family traditionally did, Osco chose to pledge themself to the little people, and started wandering accross the world to help the common folk.
I've been itching to use them again, but haven't gotten the opportunity to do so yet...
2. Your favorite character that someone else has played.
Ahh, this is always so hard! Last time I ended up naming two because I couldn't make up my mind...But there are so many other characters I've played alongside that I love so much, picking just one as a favorite is the worst feeling.
More recently, a character that I've been very fond of, and that would be @chubbypixel 's beautiful orc boy Orion. In most recent times he's been simplified as a half-orc rogue, but if given the opportunity (and without the awful intelligence disadvantage or the complexity of multi-classing) he'd be a full orc rogue/ranger. He's very noble in his attitude, and easy to get along with if you don't have prejudice against orcs somehow. He's charming and mysterious, and I love this flower crown prince to bits.
For the personal questions: 4, 6, 12, 18. :)
4. Do you believe in the phrase “respect your elders and honor your parents”?
I'd typically say yes, but at the same time, I think it's a question of mutuality. Yes, adults and older people should be respected because of their experiences and wisdom, but adults should also respect the younger generations as well! After all we all have different sorts of knowledge and experiences and values, and unfortunately while it tends to go one way towards adults, younger people's concerns tend to be brushed aside like they don't matter. In other words, I'll be happy to give respect and honor to my elders or whatever, so long as they do the same for me.
6. When you look up at the stars do you a.) Gaze in wonder at the beauty of the night sky and get lost in your own mind, b.) Ponder the science behind stars and try to find constellations and planets, or c.) Remember that all the stars are dead and the light we see are just echoes of life that died millions of lightyears ago
Both A and B are very much things I do whenever I look at the stars! Which is relatively often because the night sky in the countryside is fairly visible, even with the surrounding light pollution. I do wish I was more knowledgeable about constellations though, so I could be able to tell them apart more easily.
12. Do you still have a cherished toy/stuffed animal/doll ect. from your childhood? What is its name and why is it so important to you?
I'm the kind of person who has a lot of lingering attachment to things from my childhood, haha. Which typically means I kept several of the plush toys that have been with me for over two decades. I hope it's not like, lame or anything.
The one that really strikes me the most is this sort of rag doll that has been with me pretty much since I was born. It's pretty much made to sit on a table or shelf, but it has a little music box inside that you can wind in its back, and the head kind of gently bobs along to the song! I have no clue where it comes from or who gave it to me, but I've always treasured it a lot and I can't think of ever giving it away. Is that weird?
18. Do you believe that smaller, less intelligent creatures are below you and don’t think they deserve respect?
By 'less intelligent' I'm assuming we're talking about animals or bugs? This question is worded kind of weird...
Every creature on Earth deserves respect to me. They all have a function and purpose in the grand scheme of things, even the little things you might dislike like mosquitoes, or the ones you might be afraid of. Every being has its place, and deserves to be respected as a pivotal piece of our world.
