Lights of scarlet and gold flashed and sparked above your heads, before flickering like dying flames, into nothingness.
You stared, mouth agape, with your hands desperately pressing your earmuffs against your ears to cut the loud bangs and crackles from ricocheting through your ears and into you skull.
Younghyun didn’t know which one to look at, the fireworks, or you, with your cold-blushed nose and glittering eyes.
Glancing at you, he whispered the words, “I love you.”
The words spilled from his lips before he could stop them.
In a panic, he feared your reaction, peering at you with the air caught in his throat.
But you didn’t hear him, the fizzling pops of the fireworks covering his mistake.
He sighed.
Whether it was out of relief or regret, he could not tell.
