When the three tributes had been rescued from the Capitol, Katniss had been relieved that everyone had made it out alive. But when she saw Peeta, he’d tried to kill her. Obviously, the Capitol had brainwashed him - he hadn’t even looked like the same person anymore.
Neither did Johanna. All her hair was cut off, and she had bruises and scars all over her skin. Katniss hadn’t spoken to her yet, but Johanna had saved her life so she trusted her. Also, she was so anti-Capitol that no amount of torture would take away her hatred for them - or so Katniss thought.
“Johanna,” Katniss said, walking into the room where she lay, recovering. It was hard to look at her - she was clearly hurt in so many different ways. “I’m glad you’re alive,” she finally told her after a moment. “I was worried.”
