Still taking sad Hanzo HC? Well. There is speculation that H. cut G. down from behind (the damage on his body doesnt match the angle of the cut on the tapestry, unless he was kneeling before it) What if H. and G. got into an argument, H. with the knowledge of what he was ordered to do, G. with the assumption that H. cared too much to hurt him. H. could feel the rift between them getting bigger the more they argued and he couldn't stand watching G. walk away from him so he just.. didnt let him.
After Hanzo comes to Overwatch his and Genji's interactions are painfully awkward on both sides because here's this person you used to be able the read like a book, and they're a total stranger. Then they start talking about their pasts and their experiences don't match up. Like maybe their parents spoiled Genji but treated Hanzo as the Heir-to-Be, and maybe only Genji had friends that weren't used to further agendas, but neither noticed. And so the gap widens when they were only trying to help.
*grabs blizzard by the lapels*LET THEM RECONCILE AND BE HAPPY
BUT adding on to sad Hanzo hc. Hanzo fuckin g hates himself for all of it. The resentment, the anger,, he thinks it's all him. Sure it was a tiiinnnyyy bit but it was mainly the clan leaders. Genji is trying to help, and Hanzo won't tell him that bit because did Genji know? How would he react? Would he loose his trust? Did he even deserve it in the first place?
Sad Hanzo HCs??? *rubs my evil hands together* Young Hanzo wasn't only stressed, he was TERRIFIED. His father had just died, it seemed that the clan's elites were coming in from all sides, and his brother could care less. He may have felt a little bit alone, maybe a little bit abandoned from his younger brother who saw him as "the next leader" rather than "big bro". Maybe it wasn't all the clan elder's pressuring that made Hanzo turn on his own kin. After all, who'd want to face the storm alone?
Ok so I have this hc for Hanzo and I literally don't know whom else to send it so here goes: Hanzo doesn't just have nightmares about killing Genji, he also gets some about the life in the clan. The most bazaar one is about accidentally skipping a lesson or something and having this irrational fear of being a disappointment to his father. When Hanzo wakes up after this one his usual after-nightmare state is also mixed with frustration because logically this does not scare him as it does
Alright *cracks knuckles* sad headcanon about Gabe being the Blackwatch DadTM from this post, kinda goes like this, but take it with a grain of salt because obviously i’m throwing this off the wall with what we know as canon:Gabe when finding Jesse -however the deadlock thing ended- pretty much adopts him on the spot. Shows up at Jack’s desk with a scrawny, spit-fire, sass-mouthed brat in tow. “Gabe who the hell is that?” “My son.”“…what?”“my son.”“you can’t—”*slaps down blackwatch recruitment paperwork like they’re adoption papers* “he’s mine now.”
cuz Gabe doesn’t just recruit he adopts. Most of the blackwatch crew are kids/people he’s picked up and out of bad situations and given a new start. I HC that Jesse and Gabe really shared that father son comeradie, and then later when Genji joins he gets adopted too. Jesse and Genji eventually bond as the Best Bros and really look up to Gabe and they all heal, grow & thrive together within Blackwatch. Gabe watches their backs and they watch his. So when it all goes to shit, however it goes down, the surviving members are devastated from far more than just the loss of their careers.
and here’s where my very unpopular opinion and taking liberty with canon comes in:I like to speculate that Jesse played a bigger part than we know if trying to stop what happened at the swiss base, and it fell on deaf ears & “tied hands”.and he watched as his home and friends were torn apart. Whatever happened, he knows one thing. A lot of that blood’s on Jack’s hands.and then years later, finding out that Jack survived, is galavanting around as a vigilante, and “having the guts” to join the recall -as the vigilante and not even himself, really don’t sit right with Jesse McCree. Maybe it even causes him to not accept the call himself for a long time. He ain’t takin’ orders from Jack again. Ever. And if the remaining members are -then god help them. Genji shares his feelings, and despite his inner healing, this is a wound that can’t heal without resolution.
Because Gabe wasn’t just the boss of blackwatch, he was the DadTM of a rowdy, deadly, misfit family. they were a family.and Jack had a hand in taking that away. (whether he actually did or not, that’s how Jesse sees it)But both he and Genji are broken men who have giant, forgiving hearts.and after probably a very long time, hear out his side of the story, settle their differences, and accept him -but never as their superior. They also live to make his life HellTM, with petty quips and pranks and jokes. They might understand each other now, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to go down easy.
It’s what Gabe would have wanted after all.
(disclaimer i do like jack, i just like playing with this angst canon)
Oh is it headcanon night? Great! I’ve been getting this one ready for a couple weeks so hold on, this is gonna be a ride. TL;DR: Fight Club Jesse minus the toxic masculinity crap. So, a year or so afterJesse joins Blackwatch Gabe notices him sneak off base some nights. Normally Gabe wouldn’t worry but no one knows where Jesse goes, not even Athena, and when he gets back at 3 or 4 in the morning he’s beat up and bloody.
keep reading under the cut:
(2) Jesse always finds a way to avoid talking about what goes on and Gabe just gets more and more worries about his son subordinate. One night Gabe decides to follow Jesse just to make sure he isn’t getting into any serious trouble. He follows him to an abandoned warehouse where he discovers an underground fighting ring. Gabe starts connecting the dots and the last piece of the puzzle falls in place when Jesse enters the make shift ring with no shirt and his knuckles taped up, ready to fight.(3) Turns out Jesse fights there on the regular under a fake name and is a fan favorite. He almost never loses a fight thanks to his scrappy (almost dirty) fighting style he developed in Deadlock and his official hand to hand combat training he got with Blackwatch. That night is no exception. Al his opponents have more than a couple inches on him and close to twice his weight.
(4) The first fight starts and Gabe almost has a heart attack because Jesse isn’t defending himself at all; he’s letting his opponent get in two, three free punches without even trying to dodge them. Gabe’s about two seconds from breaking up the fight and rescuing his son subordinate but then Jesse starts fighting back. And goddamn is he a nightmare. He takes down every opponent like this, not losing a single fight that night.
(5) After the last fight and after everyone else has left the building, Gabe finally confronts Jesse. Jesse’s sitting in his corner of the ring, trying to prevent blood from a cut on his brow from dropping into his eye and trying to untape his hands at the same time. He freezes when his sees Gabe and immediately assumes the worst when Gabe says nothing. Gabe just helps Jesse up and walks him to the locker room.(5) After the last fight and after everyone else has left the building, Gabe finally confronts Jesse. (6) He patches Jesse up and gets him street worthy in total silence and Jesse’s just silently freaking out the whole time, wondering if Gabe will give him enough time to pack up all his stuff at least. Finally, right before they head out Gabe asks him one question, “why?” Jesse decides he’s got nothing left to lose and tells him. He tells Gabe how sometimes he can’t sleep because of nightmares. Nightmares about the shit he did in Deadlock and some of the worse missions for Blackwatch.(7) They leave him antsy and on edge (and guilty and depressed) and he found out that the best way to burn off that energy and get back to “normal” was this. Jesse finishes and waits for Gabe to tell him he’s fired but it never comes. Gabe just tells him that everyone has different coping methods (even if they are terrible coping methods) and that’s fine.(8) He won’t tell Jesse to stop but he does demand that he tell Gabe next time he goes out so he can go with him and make sure he doesn’t die from a head injury or something. Jesse agrees to those terms and with a sigh of relief they go back to base. True to his word, Jesse brings Gabe along to the next fight, and the next one, and the one after that. Gabe goes gladly but also starts sneaking in covert therapy during the daytime to hopefully give him a less dangerous outlet for his problems.
(9) It slowly starts working and Jesse goes from fighting every week to fighting about once a month, and then even less as the years go on. (I have a lot more on this if any of all want to hear it)
Uumm……*flips a table* CRYPTID. MORE? YES? WHERE IS THE FIC????? i love this so much…the dad & son feels… omg my heart *lays down, cries softly*
how do you personally interpret young hanzo's personality? like for me, i think hanzo was super stressed and shit from all the bs his clan had put him through but he didnt want genji to worry about him so around his brother he'd pretend he wasnt as stressed as he really was, whereas now in present time he's too depressed and guilt ridden to convince his brother that he's totally okay. (but he's getting there. genji's helping. genji is with him.)
The feels this gives me… these bros…*clutches chest*
