Inui "Inupi" Seishu x reader
I've been wanting to write something for Inupi a while now. Just have no idea what direction it's gonna go to. Or what will come out of it.
She was there as a constant in his life, until one day - she left.
At first, he hadn't noticed she disappeared. He expected her to show up and tell him about her day, show him something she found or heard from her friends. But she didn't. It took him few days to actually realise she'd meant her words.
Their fight sitting in the back of his mind, and somehow he knew he'd messed up. He let her go, against his will, he decided it was safer for her to be away from him.
From both him and Koko.
Losing his sister, Akane, had been a heavy blow to all involved. It changed something in them. Ruined them. And he'd be damned if he let her follow them down to the same path.
So, he let her go.
He didn't fight for her.
Until the day he saw her with Hanagaki Takemichi and his friends, looking at him in shock - eyes widened and frozen in her spot. It wasn't until Hanagaki's girlfriend and Shiba Yuzuha pulled her out of the way that she snapped out. But she didn't show any other recognition.
He didn't like that.
Nor the way how protective she seemed to be of Hakkai, Taiju's younger brother.
She'd grown. Gotten prettier, a bit more mature.
And tougher.
She was no longer the little crybaby who only calmed down when Akane promised to play with her. When Koko reluctantly promised to spend time with her. When he let her mess with his hair.
Her eyes had become colder, or maybe it was just directed at him?
Definitely just on him, he thought with jaw clenched. Besides him, Koko smirked. His best-friend was aware of his complicated feelings towards her. Despite them acting like assholes towards her.
A burning question roared in his chest, how'd she end up involved with the gangs despite his attempts to prevent it?
And why?
Her showing up to Taiju's office with Mitsuya, gave him some idea. But not fully. He tried to ask but she ignored him, fucking ignored him. Acting as though they weren't standing behind Taiju.
Snorting when Mitsuya said something insulting.
Before she reminded Taiju of certain things related to previous understanding between Toman and Black Dragons.
He followed them, under the pretext of wanting to make sure they left the building without acting suspicious. He called her out, making her friends look at them with confusion and surprise.
She sighed, turned and finally acknowledged.
"Been a while, Seishu." He felt relieved she still called him by his first name. Even if her tone wasn't warm. Or soft.
"How'd you end up with Toman?" He demanded, clenching his fist in his pocket. His tone harsher than planned.
She eyed him, looking calmer than he felt himself to be.
"If you must know, it was through Mitsuya," she tilted her head, eyes falling to something behind him. He glanced, it was Koko. "Looking good, Koko."
"And you're no longer a crybaby," Koko chuckled, it didn't quite reach his eyes though.
She shrugged, "I was forced to grow up. But unlike you two, I didn't become an asshole. I can be, if pushed."
"Hanagaki crossed the boundaries -"
"A warning would've sufficed instead of beating the shit out of him," she cut him in sharply. The boy behind her shifted, looking as though he was going to say something. "The way you guys are acting...is an embarrassment to what Black Dragons used to be, Seishu. Is that the ideal you wanted to create? Then congratulations."
Her tone shifted something in him, but he refused to hear it.
"And you're a what in Toman? They're toy?" Seishu wasn't sure what compelled him to say it, but he was annoyed. Annoyed with the way how protective both Mitsuya and the others looked, their instant irritation at his insult.
She snorted, eyes flaring. "I'm Mitsuya's third in command, dumbass." He saw Koko's eyes widen, and knew his did too. "Unlike you, Toman boys don't take out their inadequacy on someone they once called a friend. I'm not happy to let my Vice-Captain go with shit-heads as you guys, but sadly, I don't have a word in this matter. But I will say this, touch him and I'll come after you both."
With that, she turned around, placed her hands on Mitsuya's and Hakkai's backs and forced them to leave.
"...Well that went well."
He sighed, "Shut up."
Several days later, he didn't expect to find her with Hanagaki Takemichi and Matsuno Chifuyu, he almost groaned out for how she had the ability to get herself in trouble.
What the fuck was she thinking in going up against his boss, Taiju?
Taiju would have no problem in treating her the same as he did with her friends, and a part of him dreaded it. Which was why he took her attention from Taiju, landed it on himself after he snuck up on her captain.
She snapped.
And she was stronger than he'd expected. Despite the fight, he couldn't help but catch hints of her perfume. Or was it body wash? A scent of mixed berries hit his nose as he held her close, trying to make her give up.
"I don't know who you are anymore, Inui," she said during their fight, making him momentarily freeze. A few days was all it took her to no longer call him by his first name? "Mitsuya could've died, are you that desperate into becoming a killer?"
"If I wanted him dead, he would be by now," he replied, curtly.
He dodged a punch, aimed on his face. Grabbed her other hand and pushed her down. She cursed, and struggled. The few hits she'd landed on him ached.
"Asshole."
Before he could respond, someone shoved him off of her. She was pulled away from him, told to stay with Yuzuha and let the boys deal with the rest. She'd responded Mitsuya with a middle finger.
But obeyed his order.
He'd observed the close friendship between her and Mitsuya, and didn't like it. They were too close to be just friends, too touchy-touchy feeling. Spoke too much through eyes, through a single look.
He hoped he was reading too much into it.
When Taiju lost to Mikey, who suddenly showed up with Draken, he watched her leave with Mitsuya and others. He watched her check on Mitsuya's injuries, telling him they were going to the hospital and wouldn't take no for an answer.
She completely ignored them watching, didn't even say anything before leaving. After Mikey declared Toman's win. After Taiju lost the will to fight upon finding Draken had taken care of his men.
Alone.
It was then he realised, Toman was made of monsters.
And this was his one chance to see what Hanagaki Takemichi was made of. What was it about him that reminded him of Shinichiro? What made her protective of the kid?
So he and Koko decided to join Toman, much to her dismay.
She stood with members of Division 2, watched Kisaki being kicked out of Toman with a satisfied nod and a grimace as Mikey announced he and Koko would be joining Division 1.
She bluntly ignored Hakkai's question how she knew them.
As she'd done for the past several days.
But Inui Seishu had promised himself, after walking away from Taiju, after joining Toman - that he'd make it right with her.
First, he'd need to prove to her he was capable of changing.
And he'd need to figure out her relationship with her captain.
Or show them that Mitsuya Takashi had competition.
He'd figure it out.
And done.
I just write stuff out and no idea where I'm going with it but it's done and some peace gained in my head.
It's kinda fun testing this kind of writing...
